90 second load times on vanilla ultra low settings please help!

been having probblems with my skyrim lately. ive been having to wait upwards of 90 seconds going through any load door. no frame rate issues... just load times. ive tried new games, no mods even a complete re install but same thing. its made it all but unplayable and getting to the point where testing the mod im trying to make is becoming a chore in itself. if anyone has ANY ideas id really like to here cuz im out of them. i have skyrim for xbox too but im too used to the pc version and i dont want to go back lol... please help!

The long load time means you have a very slow reading hard drive.

 

The only way to reduce it is to either buy a faster one or reduce the size of the file loading.

 

Go to your game saves and check the size of the files. If your game saves are anywhere between 4 and 10 megs then that is fairly normal. If your game saves are much larger then i would consider losing some mods...

 

I had similar issues with my old hard drive. I now use an SSD for my steam library and the load screen simply flashes before it loads.

Also, install and run crystal disc mark. Its a program that will tell your the read and write speed of your hard drive.

Might try a defrag.

 

i know it has nothing to do with my hard drive cuz new vagas on ultra with hd mods still only takes about 5 seconds. used to b able to run skyrim on a toned down ultra with about 10 hd texture replacers, open cities and my ugrids to load set to 7 and was only about a 5 to 10 sec load time. now its 90 secs on the lowest of low... and vanilla. im running a intel i7 3.2 with 12gb ram and a 2 gb geforce gtx 560 and a 7200 rpm hd linked with a sata3 connection. 90 seconds is just unreasonable

Digitaltrucker's advice, in my observation, is usually on target. PowderedToast, too. Whatever you can do one NewVegas is only tangentially related to what you can do on skyrim. For some reason, your hard drive is taking a lot longer than it use to to load the game. The only way to fix that is to figure out what is causing your hard drive to react so slowly (large loads, background programs running,especially browsers or scans, mods that spawn a lot of new critters or NPCs, game bloat...).

 

Now three people have given you pretty much the same advice. Obviously you are free to dismiss it, but if you try it, at least you can cross it off the list if it doesn't work. And trying it may save you even more time and frustration in trying to solve the problem.

I recall reading somewhere that long load times can be caused by having a framerate capper enabled in your drivers?

 

Not sure if this is the case for the OP and have no idea where such a setting would be in an ATI/AMD setup but in nVidia's control panel it's called "Vertical Sync" and can be found in the "Manage 3d Settings" pane (needs to be set to "off" or "Application Controlled" globally with the setting for Skyrim/Steam set to "use global setting").

 

there is the possibility that the OP is using some 3rd party software to do this too of course

ok just want to thank everyone who posted tying to help i really am gratefull. unless there was another update i missed... my probblem seemed to dissapear when put a blank line inbetween my Papyrus load sequence and my water load sequence. didnt think it was supposed to b like that... still dont know why it didnt change when i deleted originals and re-synced with steam maybe it was my cloud sync files that were the issue... but whatev! it even works better than it did before now with the ini tweeks i made to it lol! still have to adjust a bit but im liking it. just a few changes. the interface section changes how close ur health/stamina bars and compass are to the edge of ur screen. map menu section changes how close/far u can zoom with the map and also its speed! check this out i have:

 

"Ambient Occlusion" turned on in NVIDIA settings

 

"VSYNC" is forced off in both NVIDIA and Skyrim settings

 

"FXAA" turned on in Skyrim settings
