Fallout 3 ending...

I noticed quite a few things I thought were a bit on the lazy side on my way through the wastes. Don't get me wrong, I had a great time, but there were just some details that just got to me. The first would be the fact that they reused the teaser trailer for the opening movie. Maybe it's just me, but as soon as I saw that I thought "Oh crap, what else have they been lazy with?" Dialogue, while not particularly bad (except for one use of "could care less", the phrase that just makes me grind my teeth whenever I see or hear it. It's "couldn't care less"!), did have something to be desired for the majority of the game. And of course, it was way too easy.

Saying that, I can't possibly begin to understand the reasoning behind adding a big hunking robot (is it just me, or was it a complete rip off of Optimus Prime without the cool transformation ability? Sounded almost exactly the same, and also had a terribly similar name...) at the end that obliterated absolutely every single bit of confrontation in your path. I, too, was hoping for a bit more of a showdown. Then there's the fact that the ending was so anti-climactic. So... basically I get to watch myself keel over and die or watch my friend keel over and die, and then it immediately launches into the epilogue? They couldn't at least have given us a small cinematic of the purifier actually doing something? That would have been fine. But the fact that I just died and nothing really happened was just too grating, and was exactly the kind of thing that I was afraid of after seeing the recycled teaser trailer. And yes, although I liked the epilogue, it could have gone into more detail of my deeds.

Overall, although I did enjoy the game and it is very good, the main storyline was just... bland. I think the discovery of why my father ran away came much too quickly, although that was probably a side-effect of the overall small length of the story. Then it did get significantly better with having to find a way into and then fight my way through vault 87 to get to the GECK, and being kidnapped by the Enclave was exciting. But then it sort of got ruined by the fact that I didn't actually have to do anything at the end of the game, except remember the number of the passage that my mother that I never knew liked so much. My recommendation to anyone who hasn't played it? Great game, but ignore the main quests (which is actually a very weird thing for me to say, since I play games FOR the main storyline).

I had a thought last night, as I was looking at the underside of yet another slag/rock/debris pile that didn't completely touch the ground, they sure as heck didn't have anyone in QC (Quality Control) sneak their way around the wasteland like I did. Shoot, there's hundreds of "artifacts" out there that needed fixing. I'm guessing the G.E.C.K. uses an aerial view for large aspects of land, or at least there is a function that allows for it. There's no other reason, really, that I can think of.

Well, maybe incompetence... :whistling:

Strangely enough I had almost exactly the same thought about TES4.

Funny that I don't remember half as many badly placed objects in Morrowind, but maybe thats just nostalgia (or altzheimers).

Uh... who exactly did you own there? You just proved his point.

I took it as owning whoever wrote that bit of dialogue. Of course, it could just be the character itself didn't know the difference. Without asking the writers, we'll never know.

Personally, the ending was everything I could hope for.

What else do you need? A 2 hour motion picture telling you what you did or what is going to happen now?

All the important things were mentioned, I actually fell bad when the narrator 8and he DID!) mentioned me blowing up megaton, I was reliefed when my choice not to put the virus in there was right (the president did make a good point after all!) and alltogether thats all I need.

I know what I did and why I did it. I dont need nobody telling me all these things again and I wonder why you would...

And how come the game was short? Maybe the main story was, but do you play any other games beside RPGs? Have you noticed that games today usually dont even last for 10 hours? This game has so much to do, altogether I have played nearly 100 hours with both my characters and with both I havent even done half of whats there to do. Get the Prima Guide and take a look at all the things you've missed so far!

Best RPG ever, goodbye Morrowind!

Well usually when you quote someone, post a picture like that, and then say owned... you're talking to the person you quoted, which in this case means he completely misread. Hence my curiosity.

I just finished my first game and the ending was super lame.

First, i didn't activate the FEV virus into the console, yet the ending "movie" said i did. That was irritating. I'd like to see what changes your character's actions had on the world. Did the water get fully purified? Do the people notice or celebrate? Will plants be able to grow now? Who knows? This should have been covered.

But even worse, was that, like Oblivion, it ends not with a bang, but a whimper. The giant robot destroyed everything in it's path. I don't think it was necessary for me to have ever shot a bullet. I saved up all this ammo and was hoping for a big, drawn-out, difficult battle and instead the giant robot did everything for me. I would love to see a mod that adds more Enclave soldiers & robots for this "battle".
