dubiousintent
Hmm. I agree with you that simply "deactivating" a mod is not sufficient. (Good point, that.) However it has long been my understanding and experience that "uninstalling" a mod and it's assets from the game Data folder (which, with the newer "empty data folder" style managers like MO and Vortex, should just mean a profile without the mod in question), and following the proper "clean save" procedure is sufficient without having to create a "clean install" of the game. That is certainly "safest" but probably a bit of "overkill". -Dubious-
Mktavish
Is it possibly just needing to toggle archive invalidation ?
dubiousintent
Toggling AI only works for substitutions by "loose files" instead of using BSA contents. Not when you need to disable some functionality added by a mod (scripts, leveled lists, GMSTs, variables, etc.) or restoring files that were physically replaced. Then a "clean save" is necessary and that can be a bit more complex to do properly than people realize. Hence the linked article. Then again, some things can get "baked in" to the save game files and all you can do is go back to a point before they were added. -Dubious-
Mktavish
Well beside loose folder assets , there are links within the .esp among objects, that in my experience ... get reset by AI toggle.Example in this case would be base effects / object effects ... weapon / crit effect. Is there any reason to not toggle AI every load order launch ? But anyways ... I finally got my geck rig working again , so I guess I'll do a little digging with EVE.Since imo , that is where the root of the problem lies. Also remaking the .ini if not a to drastic option ... or is that covered in making a clean save ?
Mktavish
Well digging into ... all I can turn up is my suspicion of EVE being the root of the problem , may infact be true. Unless there is another mod you had that does something similar to EVE you did not mention.Which is using containers as the ash/goo piles instead of an activator like vanilla. And the JIP patch purports to return it to working like vanilla , albeit I couldn't see exactly how that was done. But anyways ... why I say that about eve ... is you are seeing "Activate" on hover ... instead of "Search" So the old mechanics of EVE is rendering in the pipeline , or another mod that did similar.
