Going digital

Thanks for the reply.

In working with the DA Toolset, all of the DAO vanilla base game content is available to access and change through the Toolset, but not any of the DLC (including Awakenings). I have found that if I try to open any of the DLC with the Toolset, it needs a password. I'm guessing they did that to keep people from offering their DLC as free mods or somesuch? Or maybe they just forgot to make it accessible? I don't really know their game plan there.

In any case, it does make it pretty tricky to work with modding the DLC. If anyone knows how to work with the DLC in the Toolset, I'd sure appreciate the solution.

There's this discussion of how to use Awakening assets in the the toolset. I've never bothered to try it, though, since I don't make the kind of mod that requires the toolset, normally.

The other DLC is encrypted, and the Nexus doesn't allow any discussion of how to work around that encryption.

@LadyHonor - YAY! It worked! :D

And yeah, you don't have to play DAI single player online, but you do have to at least run Origin in the background. It's a pain in the butt.

Appreciate the link, TSM. I'm not so much looking for the items as... scripts, characters, plots, that sort of thing, and I've not found a way to open them with the toolset.

I'm fairly aware, and in full support of Nexus policies around IP and DRM. I just wondered whether EA/BioWare had decided to make an unlocked version available when they licensed it to GOG, one that would be more accessible to the toolset.

Ah. I misunderstood. I don't have the GOG version (though I should really pick it up when they have one of the frequent under $5 sales, so I can ditch Origin altogether) but I've seen no indication from my outsider's-eye view of the DAO modding community that the DLC is unencrypted.

Unfortunately, Bioware/EA would really have to release DLC source files for the non-base game assets, to get things like scripts, plot files, dialogue, etc into the toolset. *sad face*

There is a way to do it with awakening. I read a tutorial on it once, but it said it could be game breaking. So I never actually did it. I dont know how the gog version will work with the toolset. I gave my old computer to the grandkids and installed the gog one on that. Then I applied my "no romance" mod to it. Lol They are only ten and eleven. So they also have the desire demon covered and the lady of the forest retexture mods. I didnt install the toolset at all on it. Honestly tho I'm tempted to uninstall my dvd version and use the gog version. I *thought* I had everything but I thought wrong. Edited by LadyHonor
