Guest deleted34304850
There would not be such a fuss about password length and composition if people would just use a password manager. There are many quality password managers available in cloud and non-cloud editions. They are extremely easy to set up and use. I've used a non-cloud password manager for thirteen years. That clever little program has made my online life so much easier and safer.Would that clever little program by any chance have a name and/or link you would share?? you could use google for "password manager" and see what that gives you. DarkwindLegion
12 character is absurd, I'm sorry. Yes 'content creators' are vulnerable since they have something of value. So pro-tip: If you are a content creator and paranoid about being hacked YOU can set a 12 character hardened password yourself. Why enforce it across the thousands and thousands of other users that do not require that. Solution looking for a problem, basically. Bureaucracy for the sake of like so many thing in our society today. There is this small group of people who are vulnerable, everyone must comply for their sake. No, take responsibility for YOURSELF instead of having the Nanny State (in this case you) tie your shoes for you. Put your big boy pants on. Yes, I'm a little annoyed by this change if it isn't obvious...
ZZZ02
Yeah I agree having everyone forced to change it is overkill I have enough issues remembering my 8 as I made sure to choose numbers with no way to identify me and I am careful with it and clean cookies regularly ect. I will have to store the new password if I can come up with one (this rule is not affecting the forum side yet) in plain text which will be easier for a hacker to get at. but even if they do what do they get I don't use the same email or password for anything important I have no funds here I don't even mention my steam account ever. Also Darkwindlegion is right a strong pasword is a person problem not a nexus problem if an author gets hacked because their password is something like password1 then thats on them. they are literate enough to make a mod they are literate enough to know the risks of a weak password. People have had their accounts banned because bots take them over and spam the site for example

DarkwindLegion
arguing for increased security for YOUR OWN BENEFIT is absurd. I'd like to install this camera in your house. I assure you, 100% security increase will be had because you will never able to be robbed while it is on. If I want increased security, I can use an RSA Encryption Key to change my 20 digit passcode every 30 seconds w/o any help from any website. Again, FORCED vs. self-driven. And again, a reflection of society and the need for the nannies to clean up after the kids. Install this camera here it is for YOUR OWN BENEFIT. We are from the government and here to help! Just stop...

st4rdog
It's beyond dumb. Our passwords will be cracked when they hack your unsecure database, not from brute forcing.
