Akrid
Bush has lost a lot of favor from me with his god crap. First it was bashing stem cell research (OT don't start), then it was his constant blabering of god this and god that, my nations leader beliefs and trust in a enity I believe to not exist, now he most likey will oppose the same sex marriage. My view on same sex marriage is the same as everyone elses here. Imagine how this will change society, with gay marriages, there will exist legal gay couples with the same provisions of a normal married couples, they will have adopted children or borrowed sperm for the all female couples. Gay people in general will become more normalized and therefore more accepted, more closet homosexuals will come out when the fear of being "bashed" decreases. I think the changes will be positive in the long run. It's better to have gay people everywhere than to have a few gay people :ranting: for thier rights. I was reminded much of what it must of been like when black people* where given more rights and education, many people then where outraged that black children would be going to the same schools as white and sharing the same drinking fountains and bathrooms. I belive racism and anti-gayism* are both biggotry(sp?). People who judge others often fail to judge themselfs, the old biggot that claims to hate gays may indeed be a child molester, the real wrong. Wrong people point thier fingers too. OT *black people, some people are offended by this, however white people is perfectly acceptable, African American is not the correct term to call a American black person, if they where not born and/or raised in Africa then they are American, just like I'm not a German American. *anti-gayism, I used this to replace Homophobic, just because you may not like gay people does not make it a phobia. cactoblasta
I think the anti-gay marriage people are against it because it might increase the divorce figures.

Malchik
Eventually it will be legal to mary farm animals and inatimate objects. But seriously, i really don't give a flying blargh who people want to mary :P. As long as they don't tell me im out of line, politically incorrect, or an idiot for wanting to remain straight. Or try and make passes at me ><, been done before and its like the nastiest feeling in the world. It was all i could do to keep from smacking the guy in the nose. Whilst it made you uncomfortable (understandably) it was also a form of flattery. I have had to turn down approaches not only from men but also women in whom I had no interest in developing a relationship. (I'm wedded to the CD player.) Learning how to give, as well as to take, rejection ain't easy! There was a thread somewhere else where several forum members said they weren't going to get involved with the murky relationships of love. Maybe we should start a thread on rejection and how to cope? Anyway, on topic, I think it is amusing, as I hinted in my earlier post, that at a time when heterosexual marriage is in decline - the way alimony is getting so far tipped against the male these days only a fool is going to face the risk - that gay people feel the need for it! But it is right that it should be their choice.

Icefiddell
Personally i dont really care who marrys who. I'm perfectly straight with a nice girl friend lol but hey. But when people say that these people should have exactly the same rights as normal couples i totally disagree in some respects. Take adoption for example, if gay couples had the same rights as normal people they would be allowed to adopt kids and in my view, having a child brought up by a gay couple is wrong. For what i would have thought would be for obvious reasons. I mean small children shouldn't really learn about that kinda stuff till thier older. imagine when you where only knee tall and you went to visit your uncle frank and aunty Bill  lol might be a bit confusing. Would be confusing up to the point it'd be considered normal. After a few years it wouldn't be confusing, it'd be precisely the same the child's mind as going to visit an Aunt and Uncle. I am a firm believer that allowing gay couples to adopt is a very smart move. There are a lot of children out there that are lost in the system - and a lot of starving children in bad situations all over the world. There's not a doubt in my mind that a gay couple couldn't do worse than the system in taking care of these children in need.
Zmid
If gay is right and should be alowed then why cant gay ppl not reproduce Does this mean heterosexual couples in which one or the other or both of them are infertile also shouldn't be allowed? and why was the human race created that way Give me one shred of evidence the human race was created rather than evolved by happenstance.
