I agree with Peregrine and Brighid, for what it's worth. Claims to what is "natural" in a particular society hide the politics and history in which that society emerged. Neither politics nor history are basic natural truths in the idealized sense. But both are fundamental to ethical stance.

Also for what it's worth, publicly suggesting that other contributors are stupid is pretty uncool.

Mostafa's and following posts deleted as they no longer made sense without the original post. As you say stuff about religion isn't allowed here. Decided it was best just to remove the posts.

Heheh don't worry, everyone makes mistakes when they first join.

Hmm.. I think, someone put this thought: "If we let two people of the same sex to get married, let's let children marry as well." This thought was countered saying that children are not responsible for their actions and can't make important decidions.

Now how about this: incest. I think, we all agree, it is perversion. Even if two people are adults. So now tell me: why incest is perversion, and homosexuality is not?

So many flaws with your "brilliant" new idea...

1) Incest is not a valid comparison, because there's the risk of genetic problems that does not exist at all with homosexuality.

2) Yes, I consider it disgusting and wrong. Just like I consider sex between two men a disgusting image. Just like I consider sex between a man and an ugly woman a disgusting image. All of those are equally unlikely (zero %) to find their way into my porn collection.

But ignoring the genetic issue (make incest legal, but have a kid and go to prison, for example) what right do I have to force two (or more) consenting adults to follow my beliefs? The issue is not "do I like homosexuality?", it's "do I have the right to make my preferences law for everyone else?".

By your flawed "logic", it should be illegal for ugly women to have sex (or even remove their clothes, and by clothes I mean one of those head to toe muslim things).

3) Fine, lets grant you your stupid assumption. Homosexuality is no different than incest. It's perversion. And sex between a man and a woman involving ropes is perversion. And so on until the only thing legal is sex once a year, fully clothed, in the dark, for the purposes of reproduction. And you can't enjoy it, and have to beg Jesus for forgiveness when you're done.

But hey, even the most easily offended people will be happy, because nobody is doing anything they would consider immoral!

4) Nice of you to show just how narrow-minded you really are. The discussion was about the legality of homosexual marriage, not homosexuality itself. In case you haven't noticed, incest is illegal, not just something that isn't recognized by marriage laws. Or was this not a mistake? Was this what you really believe, that homosexuality should be treated the same and made illegal? Lets send a man to prison because he kisses another man, just so you don't have to be offended!

Ah Peregrine, the people who shout most loudly about the evils of sex are either those most attracted but too afraid or those who are too old and get jealous. In the UK in Victorian times prudery reached nonsensical levels where piano legs had to be covered (strange that people found them sexually stimulating). Yet while this 'public' attitude prevailed, what went on underneath was quite the opposite with child prostitution commonplace and far worse taking place in the home.

Laws on sexuality are practically unenforcible if the adults consent and difficult to enforce where the victims are too scared or too ashamed to testify. The less that is 'illegal' the easier to reduce shame and to clarify what really should not be allowed.

Not my fault you can't undestand what a joke is. Or that you can't see how I was saying exactly what Malchik was implying.
