Moraelin
A script sounds like a bit too much, actually. I'd do it like I think the original poster suggested: make it actually be one two-handed weapon, which just incidentally looks like two weapons. Basically it would be just one weapon which just looks like two pistols 1 ft apart, with nothing in between them. All shooting and reloading animations would technicaly be one weapon animations, you just happen to squeeze both trigger fingers to fire that one weapon. Which way the cylinders of that one weapon rotate, would be in the animation, ditto for animation to reload both, etc. And yes, then you'd always have to reload both. Ammo would have to be one common pool for both, though, but if they're always fired together, basically it doesn't matter. Instead of having 2x6 rounds for, say, two revolvers, you'd have 12 for both, and they go down to 10, 8, etc, when you shoot. Probably the only scripting needed would be so when you equip one, it looks if you already have one equipped, in which case it turns into the "revolvers akimbo" weapon. And that one would have to turn back into two revolvers when unequipped. Well, maybe even that's not "needed", but rather "nice to have." Unfortunately, I don't know if it's possible to edit the animations and skeleton positions like that yet. Probably not.
FelixTheCrazy
FYI the way the reveolvers from the Gunslinger world were one hand reloaded was that they were built opposite so that the chambers could flop out either opposite directions. So the Gunslinger would open the revolver, drop out the spent shells and put the gun in it's holster, open, he'd then use that hand to pull shels from the gunbelt and load the gun, he'd pull the gun out of the holster slam it closed and fire. All that in a few seconds while the other hand was still firing and then it would do the same thing. As long as he had bullets he could fire non-stop. Keep in mind that when it came to firing the 'hard calibers' the Gunslingers were near magical in their abilities. Similarly you could do the same with a magazine based pistol, drop the clip out one handed, holster the gun and put a new magazine in, draw the weapon, release the bolt and start firing. kapro
I'd have no problem with this mod. A person could dual wield in real life, as pointless as it may be; besides, I care more about fun than realism in a game. I think the idea of having a single weapon that shows up as two pistols is the way to go, as others have pointed out. You could have the right trigger fire the right pistol and the left trigger the left pistol. For convenience sake, the pistols can just be reloaded off screen so that you don't have to figure out a special animation for reloading them. fallout 3 has a freakin hand-held nuke gun for christsake and you're talking about the realism of dual-wielded pistols not being effective?I just wanted to point out, that there was a sort of hand held nuke launcher that the US created: Davy Crockett. Anyways, as I've said, to me, it's not about the realism, but the fun. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/43/DavyCrockettBomb.jpg
FelixTheCrazy
So would this mod be likely to be able to me made with the current 'tools' we have? I'd be interested in learnign how to do it, if it can be done currently...
kapro
So would this mod be likely to be able to me made with the current 'tools' we have? You might be able to make the pistol model, but I don't think any extra animation can be done until NifTools is updated to support Fo3 nif files, which we're currently in the dark about. You can find more info on NifTools progress here: NifTools Forum
Deleted187290User
>>clip seriously, this is a common mistake. It is considered a magazine a clip is a metal stip used to load rounds into an integrated magazine (like an M1 Garand, something I'd like to see in FO3) I'm just saying these fancy weapons wouldn't really fit the FO3 theme. I was thinking more old Warsaw pact weapons and early NATO stuff. But all quality work is welcome. I'm just a realism angel

Circuitous
sorry, its just kinda lame and nerdy from my perspective. News flash, you're on an internet forum dedicated to a computer role-playing game. Perspective, people.
