Random crashes when talking/buying/selling Merchants.

Hello guys,

Pretty experienced Oldrim modder here. I'm testing my "SE" version before playing and the only issue I'm encountering is CTD randomly when talkin/buying/selling from Merchants. TESTED on Whiterun/Riverwood merchs.

I'm using VORTEX with the latest Steam version + SKSE 2.0.17 (runtime 1.5.97)
All the mods have been cleaned with SSEEdit 4.0.2 (no conflicts warnings)

Uninstalled "Morrowloot Ultimate" & "Skyrim Richer Merchants x10" since I'm reading those cause merchant CTDs sometimes.

Any help would be much appreciated.

IFF it was one of those mods that caused the situation, there *may still be lingering (orphaned) code elements in your save files interfering with proper operation (ie continuing to cause CTDs). Have you cleaned your savefile using Fallrim tools?

 

IFF not or if you already tried cleaning it, nvm. Just a thought.

Richer Merchants never caused issues for me. The only thing that can happen with ANY mod that adds coin to merchants is that you don't get any money for what you're selling from the moment the merchant has more than 32000 septims in the purse. 32000 is an engine limitation.

 

For the rest, the only thing I had crashing or not even letting me start Skyrim SE was the bashed patch from Wrye Bash. Same with FO4. It used to be no problem, but from a certain point on I could no longer use them.

So, after some research I seem to have isolated the issue. The faulty mod is "Book Covers Skyrim".

It's pretty wild since I've never had the issue with the mod prior to this in Oldrim or previous SE builds.

 

I simply uinstalled the mod and Merchants are acting OK now. I'll be starting my first TEST playthrough

and report any issues if anyone's having the same problem.
