Feminized Power Armor

k.. but heads up NMA might oppose it.
...and they're in charge of what exactly? Is this the NMA website all of the sudden? Who cares what they think, except in an abstract manner? Personally, if those lads are complaining, and they always are, somebody is doing something right.

Its not a very fallout aesthetic so it does have potential to break canon. Hence my opposition to it.
That makes sense. So, don't download the mod if someone makes Sisters of Battle armor. Done and done. We get new fem-power armor, and you keep your sense of canon. We win and you win.

Of course. I don't mind the fact that I don't have to download it. And if need be I can mod it out on my own if it is indeed included in some content pack.

People should still give NMA some respect, they are supporting much of the fallout modding scene and are the original fanbase for the fallout franchise.. its bad enough as it is that their franchise was hijacked.. but to then be attacked for wanting a true fallout sequel just isn't on at all. They deserve some respect as they do have the right idea with regards to the Purity of the canon. That was my only objection.. Feel free to make this mod by all means.. my objection was that some could see this as "Oblivionizing" Fallout 3 further..

As a member of NMA I understand fully why some of my brethren would oppose the addition of anything "non canon." (and to a certain extend I support that view)

Still, with the ease of including (or not) any given mod in FO 3, by a simple click on the data file, and the additional realism of armor that is designed with the female gender in mind, I would love to see such a mod. (The designers possibly would have done a separate appearance for the female PA in FO 1&2 if the sprite was big enough to make a difference)

As an aside, night vision on the power armor would be a nice touch too.

Personally i think anybody can go for it. BUT if you look for logic behind why both male/female use same type, its because its cheaper to make universal hence no need to customize to gender based. You want female armor artwork, look at BOS artwork, game itself is POS, but some and I emphasis some is interesting. Gamebanshe should have artwork up on their site.

why should it be cheaper to mass produce armor in a world where there is no mass production anymore... in 200 yrs someone must have modified his armor...

and in regards to the time before the bombs, the army would prolly have had two kinds of such armor... wouldnt be much of a difference to, for example, size changes needed...

on the other hand and even if i might undermine my earlier statement, i dont recall any bodyarmor of today which is classified as male or female at all... :?

lol who cares just make some metal bikinis and all will be happy :D

as to canon... well sometimes called lore... do you think the fallout games covered every possible aspect? whatabout chinese armor? eu armor? arabian armor, etc... maybe a mi5 (or was it 6) agent can be found dead or mutated to a ghoul, a chinese battalion forgotten in the wastelands, an arabian oilrig next to the coastline, etc... lots of possibilities to implement new items

I did a quick search, and they do in fact make body armor for female law enforcement officers these days. Also, it seems that uncustomized armor is a complaint of female soldiers serving in Iraq. For law enforcement the issue seems to be concealment, while for the soldiers it is lack of room in a flat carapace.

NMA lost my respect years ago when they became zealous purists that badmouthed anything that didn't meet their specific and exacting idea of what Fallout 3 should be. Those who deserve respect are those who waited to see exactly what Bethesda did before giving an opinion. Those who wanted a game, rather than a pedantic rehash, are those that deserve respect. In the end, I think they're the ones who will have more fun in the end as well.

To be sure, comments and opinions and discussions about canon, atmosphere, and visual style are good things. Unfortunately the apocalyptic rantings of doom from NMA (pun intended) sort of discouraged serious discussion. To be fair, I did stop reading NMA a long time ago. If they have cleaned up their act and started to act like adults instead of scared children, kudos to them!

The odd thing about Fallout canon is that there is so little of it to be had, that any insistence of purity is almost a futile gesture! Nobody at NMA seemed to realize that the games offered a distorted snapshot of history, with whispered rumors, forgotten acts, and sheer made-up BS by those who inhabited the world being the only chronicle. Any insistence of a strict canon is quite problematic in and of itself. There is a narrow path of knowledge, a path inhabited and observed by the Vault Dweller and descendants that provides what little knowledge there is of the world and it's history. The desire of NMA that the world be described entirely by that narrow band of knowledge always rubbed me the wrong way. Their angry denouncements of anyone that dared stray from that little bit of known land did nothing to make me want to listen to them either.

So, I didn't and anyone who insists that we respect them, for whatever reasons, always makes me a little sad. Do me a favor, if you would; show me how NMA changed something in Fallout 3 to make it a better game. Prove that it was input from NMA and maybe you can change my mind about not having respect for NMA. I'm interested to see what you come up with. /thread hijack

Yes, I'd like to see someone's version of Japanese power armor, maybe something from those cheeky Brits. Who wouldn't like to see power armor with a bulldog on the front, eh? Especially a female variation. That could be a kick.

My only opposition to NMA was how they constantly state that Fallout Tactics was crap. It was not at all. They did the same with Fallout 3 but in recent times they are acknowledging the good and bad points of the game.

My respect for them comes out of their desire to see a return to the old methods of the industry. Back when people actually tried their hardest to produce excelent games as opposed to Hype products for instant cash cow.

I feel that NMA would be great help for ensuring purist canon mods for Fallout 3 and I welcome that.

what I find intresting since this is a topic now devoted to NMA, is the fact that they are right.

Fallout3 is just another press button win type game, which is standard these days.

what do I mean by this?

I mean the game can be gotten through by anyone of anyskill, great from a marketing perspective.

Crap from a hardcore Fallout Fan.

Seriously?

Who felt like Fallout3 was ever hard even on hard?

Who felt like they were in a wasteland where resources were scares and you had to scrape by.

The previous fallout games had this, yes by the end you had tons of cash, but getting to that point took awhile.

INfact thats my big thing with this game, the simple combat and ease of actually surviving in the wasteland.

Anyone played Deus Ex(the survival game) Your stuck on a alien planet you have to hunt down criminals and survive at the same time... now that takes it a TAD to far.. but only a tad, you get diseases you get sick if you dont boil your water or cook your food, if yuou dont clean a wound, or you use to much morphine you kill yourself. You have to bandage poisoned bite wounds.

There was too ways to make Fallout 3 fresh.

One was to simplify it and make it easy and completeable by all

The other was to add even more diffculty and make skill even more important both player and your char.

As with all games made by big companies these days, they choose option 1.

As for powered armor, the armor in game is still in its infantcy its big and bulky due to servos or what have you that makes it POWERED, getting a form fitting one for ladies that is nice and sleak is infact unrealistic... Both in game and real world.

That said.. new types of armor.. say specific type designed for speed instead of strength could be closer to form fitting.. and here is one place HellgateLondon did well, all the Templer and Marksmen armors are damn good looking and look functional.

MI5 (Security Service) is the domestic agency and MI6 (Secret Intelligence Service) is the international intelligence agency.

^.^ In case you really wanted to know.
