vashts1985 Posted November 18, 2008 Share Posted November 18, 2008 so i dont want to get ahead of myself here, but i do think the initial release of Desert Dragon was a very welcome addition in most everyone eyes. of course its still far from perfect, some imbalances. some trouble with the static world mesh....too name a few. i have stated in the comments thread a few ideas about how i plan on improving the mod and i plan on keeping you guys updated on how its going. basically with this thread i plan on informing you guys on every thing im planning, whats in the works, and when updates have been completed and released. first i will start with the Desert Eagle. FOMM has been updated with .XML support, and some of the coder types have edited the .xml substantially, allowing for people like me and you to interpret the record data with ease. sense the dragons release, i have been able to successfully edit its damage, spread, wear, crit chance and multiplier, as well as AP cost per shot. even more, as stated, i planned on adding a run of the mill desert eagle balanced to be an analog to the scoped magnum. well, in short, i will let this raider tell you about leveled loot lists:http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff58/vashts1985/ScreenShot31.jpg that raider spawned with that desert eagle in her hand, so i must have done something right with the LVLI lists :biggrin: so expect a not so overpowered variant ingame soon, along with several choices in color:http://image.hazardstrip.com/ss/skins/53622.jpg what else may i be working on you ask? well im glad you did. im currently in contact with several other great content artists i know, and am currently getting more weapon content to add. take for instance, this stellar FN FAL, (pete, millenia)http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff58/vashts1985/ScreenShot29.jpg i will close this page by saying im still balancing and working with the loot lists, but expect the desert eagle update between now and tomorrow, and the FAL soon after. vashts1985 Posted November 19, 2008 Author Share Posted November 19, 2008 good news. hours of editing later its done. list of changes: gameplay: added a regular desert eagle that has been balanced as a counterpart to the scoped .44does 5 more damage than the scoped magnumholds 3 more rounds in the magazineless range, more spread (hopefully, i will take opinions on that)is quite rare and is a steal at 1000 caps (base)costs about equal AP to that of the scoped magnum tweeked the Desert dragon. does 5 more damage than Blackhawkhas 3 more rounds in the magazineless range, more spread (also needs playtested)its collectors find at a whopping 5000 caps (yikes)costs ALOT of AP to use in Vats.slightly increased crit chance and damage i have toned down how quickly they wear, but desert eagles can now only be repaired by other desert eagles (and they are not laying all over the place) General modifications. the Desert Eagle .44 has been integrated with the Raider loot lists. you can now see high lvl raiders toting them.as well you can find Desert Eagles occasionally on Vendors that sell *rare* small arms the Desert Dragon has gone back to being purchased off of Smiling jack only, but that will change again once i can make a quest for it. i included 4 different textures to use for the Desert Eagle .44. follow the instructions in the release to install properly putting it up now. have fun, and feedback is always welcome Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
vashts1985 Posted November 20, 2008 Author Share Posted November 20, 2008 the FAL is done! http://thenexusforums.com/index.php?showtopic=83274 complete with a new ammo type! now that i know it can be done (with alot of balancing) i will soon be adding .50AE for the desert eagles. also i have planned to add a unique FAL, an L1A1 with a medium range Trilux scope (ala Pete), sorta as a medium between the hunting rifle and the sniper rifle. it will use the more *proper* .308 Big thanks go to Pete and Millenia for their stellar work on the Fal. it is always a plesure to work with both if them. there is definetly more great quality content that i will be adding in the future form more great artists, and i will be sure to keep you informed as i get confermation to put the mods together ;D Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

vashts1985 Posted November 20, 2008 Author Share Posted November 20, 2008 well the semi auto L1A1 will be a nice little addition to the hunting rifle category.....ive got a few more pistols that im looking at putting in from some friends, as well as a remake of the Fo2 plasma pistol (you know, the one with the scope ;) ) from Millenia. also a beretta M93R that should make a good addition to the SMG category. A few weapons I've seen as being feasable with the current set of animations, are things like a .38 Snubnose, the .223 Pistol (Technically a revolver, even though it does have the second barrel that is bolt action), a Vz-62 Skorpion perhaps. Any number of bolt-action magazine feds. Potentially, if someone can mix and match animations, we can use the Chinese pistol's reload to make stripper-clip rifles. MP5 can probably be added. Any number of magazine pistols. We can get alot of new stuff in the game, and if you ask me, we should. Variety is king in an RPG. However, we most certainly should focus on Fallout 1 and 2 canon, then move on to Tactics, then onward to glory and more weapons. I salute you ser, and when and if you can find a way for the weapons to use custom sounds, I can easily provide gunshot sounds for...well, honestly, I've got like 500 different ones in my archives, so, yeah. I really am sorry and I hate to be this nitpicky, but the .44 Mag Desert Eagles only hold eight rounds in a magazine :X A terrible blight on otherwise excellent work - personally I'd lower its AP cost a bit versus a scoped .44 Mag, perhaps do a smidge more damage but widen its bullet spread... though you're already damn close to exactly that, just pretty please fix the magazine capacity!! What other weapons are you planning besides the L1A1? I think old prototypes like the FN FAL, EM-2, and AR-10 fit the game well. I can't wait to fill up FO3 with lots of custom weapons.
