CTD In Ustengrav

Here we are again. CTD in Skyrim SE. Who would have thought.

 

The game crashes to desktop in the part of Ustengrav where you have to try and pass the three stones and connected gates. Not earlier as in most CTDs in Ustengrav I've read about and also not related to the Celtic Music mod. I can roam about and plunder and hack ore out of the rock and everything, but when I enter the area that has the revolving stones and the three gates, fifteen seconds to a minute later I get a CTD. I can walk around a bit and there's no exact spot and no exact length of time (not that I noticed anyway) where or when it happens; but it just happens.

 

Game version is 1.5.97 with everything else up to date. Save is 4.4MB large. Using an ENB (Ominous ENB V1.5) and updated the binaries from the ancient v320 to v401 (crash happens with either instance).

Windows 10 on a Ryzen 7 2700X, RX Vega64 GPU with Radeon Software v19.12.3 from December 2019. Plugins that needed cleaning have been done with xEdit v4.0.3.0 using the quick method. Dawnstar has been cleaned twice. Only plugin with an issue (deleted navmeshes) is Eleanora's Breezehome.

Was able to get out of Ustengrav by using coc whiterun. Am now going to get the code to finish the Greybeard quest through a setstage command. At Whiterun the game stayed alive and well. I have an inkling the CTD has to do with AMD's Vulkan overlay starting much later than before. Vulkan normally starts during initial launch. Now it doesn't seem to start at all at first and maybe when it does boot up for some reason it collapses the game. But that doesn't explain why only in Ustengrav. And I have no mods specific to the place or especially to that area of Ustengrav. That's one of the problems of using so many mods (498 with texture mods included). It makes troubleshooting into a Communist endeavour. Like a five-year plan.

I'm actually having the same issue but I use Nvidia tech so I'm not sure AMD is causing this did you ever find a work around other than the setstage command
