Ridiculous load times despite good hardware (sometimes 15+ minutes)

There is no reason for such ridiculous load times when my machine can handle the load. I shouldn't have to wait 1/2 an hour before playing my game. Game is installed on my D drive which is SSD. Nvidia settings are 1 frame preload max, Vsync is through nviidia not the game. Once the game actually loads, its another 5 minutes before npc's will react or sounds will properly register. That said, framerate is steady at 60 the entire time, its not chugging to render or anything. I've cleaned everything with loot and checked for compatibility and patches (nothing is breaking and only occasionally CTD's when looking up certain armor etc).

Thi sis absolutely outrageous and I'm incredibly frustrated. I have no idea what's causing such a ridiculosu bottleneck.

have you attempted to create a new game? I've had several instances along the way where saves got unstable and misbehaved in a variety of ways, one of which was very long load times, very long cell switching times, long delays before menues open, etc.

then, presuming your yes actually meant "yes I have , and it has the same problem" rather than "yes, so what? I want this save to work and I'm not going to admit that because that's not what I want", (ime) it would come down to one of the standard fails

a bad mod, conflicting mods, mod overloading, LE mods, mods and or SKSE that's out of date (ie skyrim 1.9.7 requires SKSE 2.0.17 and any mod that has SKSE as a dependency must also be updated for 2.0.17) etc.

Sorry for your troubles. You have a ton of mods. I hope you can go through all of them to find out what's going on. I only have around 240 loaded currently and the game runs ~fine except when some new mod conflicts or the engine that runs the MCM's chokes after animations. The last time I had that particular symptom (long game load times, long cell transition load times) was when 1.5.80 came out last ~June, presumably due to a long list of incompatible mods....the saves were unusable (continued long load ties, un-saveable even when openable, subject to random CTDs, etc) and I had to drop back to level 16 from level 52 to solve it, although slow inventory can still be a problem even now if I try to carry too much junk. I wish you the best of luck. I was terribly frustrated when it happened to me and almost walked away from the game.

Paratrooper508, sorry for your troubles too!

anjenthedog, I imagine, it was not that easy to re-play from 16 to 52...

Just my 5 cents, how I am used to manage mods:

I download all mods only manually and save the archive files in different folders, named by date, e.g.

skyrim_mods/2019-12-12--01-52

skyrim_mods/2019-12-17--16-26

...

If I uninstall a mod after trying it, I delete its archive from the 'date' folder or, if I want to remember it, I move it to skyrim_mods/not_installed.

So, I maintain a full history of mod installations/updates.

(I have not so many mods; may be, such a system with tons of mods would be too painful, not sure...)

Also, before installing a mod that is known to require special steps before removing it, such as https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/17007 , I make a backup of my saves folder in a folder named as skyrim_saves/'before_installing_ModA'...

Paratrooper508 - I sympathise. I'd be swinging from the lampshades after 15 minutes. If that was my set up I'd be wanting to rule out an issue with the machine as opposed to an issue with the game or Steam...

1. Do you have the same issue with other games? If not then

2. Validate the files on Steam then if that makes no difference

3. Disable mods - or at least some of them - and see if the game runs ok.

As the others have said, it might be one or two mods have taken a dislike to each other...

If you've tried a fresh game then it isn't a problem with an old save...

as the new vector progressed, I got used to it.

If it is not there you need to create it. The possibility to try new features (Campfire? diseases?) and/or difficulty level (Legendary?) which one otherwise hardly would dare to, is creating the necessary motivation to re-play, instead of walking away.

yes

Yes, I have attempted a new game with no improvement.

All my mods are updated, as is SKSE, and all of its plugins are either updated or disable (rip quick loot)
