Thefalloutwolf
I'm working on a mod in which ill need to make a custom texture for the Securitron. But im not sure were to find its texture in a format were i can edit it in anyway. Also in the GECK im not seeing a place i could apply my custom texture set. Does any one know of a better method I could do this?

TrickyVein
Using FOMM, open up the 'Fallout - textures' bsa package using the browser, locate the .dds you want (there are many, all in the parent folder 'securitron' and export. Using GIMP or photoshop with NVIDIA .dds plugins you may now edit the file. To create a new securitron, apply the textures you've created to the robot model in NifSkope and save to a new file. You may then import this .nif to create a new securitron the GECK.

But they won't actually be in that directory per se but rather in the textures.bsa (a archive format fallout uses), but still under the same logical directory structure. But you can extract it with fomm and edit it with gimp or photoshop. Then you have two choices. Make a new model (your just copying over the old securitron model and changing the texure paths) or make a new texture set (which will save about a 1MB of space). Almost no one uses the new texture sets, but they are very efficient. Although come to think of it, I'v never used one on on a critter mostly statics or weapons......but I think they would work (??).
