Alright, lets hope it lets me post the code correctly this time.

If you want to go with using a bat file to just replace the stuff in her inventory...

00079305.additem 00245d68 10; Add Companion Shotgun shells

00079305.additem 0008e736 1; Add baseball bat
00079305.additem 0000000a 10; Add bobbypin 10
Copy that to a notepad document and save the file as something like cait.txt in your root fallout 4 directory. (Where the exe files are, not in the data folder. And again, NO capital letters in the name of the file, and keep it all as one word).
I also made a replacement esp called CaitComp Ammo fix.esp which you can download from here - https://drive.google.com/open?id=1RQAOsgNVOSAkv9d7dAR8FqgUaq38VYG6
Now, I would never, ever, intentionally send anybody a virus or anything nasty on their computer. However, it's a really bad habit to trust anything that you download from the internet. So run your virus scanners on the file and then drop it into your data folder in your game folder. Then activate it.
I flagged it as an esl flagged esp, so it shouldn't count against your 255 plugin limit and should still be able to be moved in your load order. That new esp is the straight out pure vanilla file of her, with no changes, other than adding the ammo and the shotgun to her inventory from the very start. (Which oddly, in my vanilla files, both are missing!)
I hope this helps! :)

Ok, code and quote tags are messing up the entire post. Sorry, I had to just use the size modification to the text to copy into the text file.

right. the only one that I've seen that carries ammo is Danse. But I haven't looked at the courser or ummm old ummm...what's-his-name. edit- Longfellow. thats what I couldn't think of.

I'm just trying to cover all the bases.

The only other thing I can think of is maybe a mod that nerfs her shotgun somehow.

Yes companions MUST HAVE one companion ammo in their inventory to use their hidden companion weapon, but you can not see that ammo with console inventory commands.

Papyrus Script call GetItemCount() will return companion ammo counts. As used in SKK Companion Weapon Auto Upgrade, SKK Unlock All Companions, Kellogg companion, and Ammo-O-Matic by SKK.

I take back what I said about the ammo. I just checked Cait and Old Longfellow and they both have 65000+ companion ammo in their inventory. 245d68 is Caits companion ammo id. Dunno how I missed it, but it's a good thing I checked.
