Vortex: version 1.1.5

Game: Fallout 4

Number of mods: 3

Environment: Windows 10 64-bit 16GB RAM

I am attempting to build a new load order for my Fallout 4 game after updating to the latest script extender. To start I uninstalled all my mods (~75+/-) with the intent of adding mods back in incrementally.

I have noticed that although all my mods save just 3 including the script extender are uninstalled some of the esm files and esp files associated with those uninstalled mod are still active under the plugins tab. This doesn't seem quite right to me.

I had thought that when I uninstall a mod the esm or exp associated with that mod should properly be deactivated. Is that not right? If not, please help me understand how it should be working. I would like to start from scracth knowing that all the mods from the my previous installation have been completely and correctly uninstalled.

When you remove a mod you're offered the follow dialogue.

If you select "Delete Archive" the mod(s) you're removing are gone forever. If you just select "Remove Mod" as shown above the mods will still appear in the table as uninstalled entries that you can reinstall.

Now, to your problem.

If the plugins and BA2 files are still present in your data folder after doing this, they're not managed by Vortex. It's likely leftovers from NMM or files managed by another mod manager. In the plugins tab there is a gear in the top right of the table that allows you to unhide the "Mod name" column. Doing this will tell you exactly which mod in Vortex provided that file (if any).

@Pickysaurus - I am dead certain that the entire load order I uninstalled was installed using Vortex. The only thing I cannot speak to is by which version of Vortex they were installed. I do not use any other mod manager. I do not add anything to the data folder without using Vortex to add it.

I made a list of the plugins that were still active after uninstalling all my mods. I shut down Vortex and manually deleted each plugin on the list from the data folder.

I am now starting from a clean slate in Vortex with no installed mods and no active plugins. I will update if I see this behavior in the future.

On a side note, I just downloaded the latest version of AWKCR dated 05 jan 2020 and I am getting an obsolete version warning from LOOT.
