BigSeaDog
Hello everyone Ok so, long story short, i actually liked having my scavengers walk around with their weapons drawn (i even gave them fancy ones just for eye candy), but i'd also rather keep using the unofficial patch. Is there a way i, having next to zero experience in game editing, could create a mod to restore that single aspect of the game (tried looking for existing mods but maybe they don't exist or i'm doing it wrong)? Thanks for your attention
StormWolf01
Heyas BigSeaDog. You're looking at it from the wrong angle. If a mod changes something, in a way that you don't like, you remove that function from the mod. Instead of making a mod to over-write another mod. The reason why you don't want to do that, is two-fold. 1) Slots in your load order. 2) Mod conflicts. While I myself don't have that mod, and I don't actually want to download it (I'm sorry) to open it up to be able to tell you exactly what you'd want to remove....It's most likely only a couple of entries that would need to be deleted. Anybody want to crack that open for them, to tell them what they'd need to do?
BigSeaDog
thanks for your reply. Do you mean entries within the main game that were modified by the unofficial patch?
geala
You seemed to imply in the starter post that is was the Unofficial Patch which removes the behaviour of scavengers to walk with guns. I don't know wether this really is the case. If it were, you could simply delete the changes which the Unofficial Patch made, that's what Old hand said. StormWolf01
BigSeaDog - Ok, sorry for the misunderstanding there.I'll try to explain. Slightly different case, but it's the most common modding that I do. I download and install a lot of gun mods. If a gun does something that I don't want it to do, or it does something in a way that I think it could do it better, I will open up the mod itself in FO4edit https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/2737/then I will find the function that I don't like, or don't want, or want to change, and I will change it. Like say, if it puts the weapon on NPC's that I don't want having that weapon. I will change it so that they don't get it. Now granted, like I said before, I dont have that mod. So I can't tell you exactly what function in there, would be what you have to edit. But, for somebody that is just starting out at modding, removing a function from an existing mod, is TONS easier, than trying to create something new, that affects NPC behavior. I tried removing it (doing a clean install) and the guns were back. There you have it. Now on to learning how on earth i can delete those changes. That's basically why i'm here :/ Edited January 29, 2020 by BigSeaDog

Thanks. Now, i may be able to figure out how to start the editor, but as to what to delete, could you tell me what to look for? I don't think i can hope for a "GUNS OUT: OFF" entry XD Edited January 29, 2020 by BigSeaDog
geala
Now you know how to do it, delete the entrances in the Unofficial Patch. Problem of course is, what entrances. I deinstalled the Unofficial Patch some time ago, as it seems to break some precombines, so I cannot say much without reinstalling. Did you ask on the Nexus mod page https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/4598?tab=posts? Arthmoor (mod author) posted on 21 January f.e., he/she seems to be present therefore. BigSeaDog
uuuuuh apparently my comment, which politely asked which entries of the UFO4P needed to be edited in order to have scavengers walk around with their guns drawn, was deleted? Some pretty rude people around. Will try my luck with the mod description et similia.
