Xescream
Hey, I want use a texture resource from a mod for a mod of my own but the user has not been online for almost 6 months so it's pretty clear they are inactive. I sent a PM anyways in case he gets an e-mail or something. I am sure the ToS of the Nexus websites give the Nexus rights to whatever content is uploaded to be removed or whatever so is it possible to obtain permission from a mod or staff to use the resources? I have heard of such a thing happening but I couldn't find any topics on it in the News and Rules forums. Thanks for your help,Brett
JimboUK
No answer means no, it might be worth asking on that games forum if anyone has any idea where the author is.

Thandal
As a matter of fact, the ToS (link in the top-right of every forum page) only give Staff the right to remove inappropriate content from the sites: User-generated content and the rights to removal You remain the sole owner of any content you have personally created and uploaded to a Nexus site. You remain solely responsible for the content you upload to a Nexus site and you agree to indemnify and hold harmless this site, and any related websites. We reserve the right to reveal your identity (or any information we have about you) to authorities in the event of a complaint or legal action arising from any information posted by you, and any information sent either private or public can be made available to any admins, staff or enforcement agencies at any time. We have the right to remove any content we deem objectionable at any time and without warning or reason...So, no the Nexus cannot grant anyone else permission that the author has not. And, in most countries, copyrights extend for "life-of-the-author plus xx years", (75 in the US.) So even the author's actual death doesn't allow automatic free use! :armscrossed:
