cincin
I have seen a GR mod in the file storage already, however I think I should talk about my own opinion about this epical weapon. At first I think there are already some nice mesh files for it. I suggest dear modders just think about that to revive the Rail gun in the Quake series, or the Gauss gun in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R.(my personal favorite), Etc. Those meshes are more popular and easier to be accepted by us players. Secondly and personally, I prefer it uses a kind of "composite" ammo. For example, a bullet of a gauss rifle is a railway spike, but when it fires, it costs a energy cell as its power source. We can even make a attach mod, to combine a energy cell with a railway spike to be a GR bullet. If it is possible, we should make the bullets ONLY on a workbench, that is funnier, isn't it? After all it is a epical weapon, it worths taking more time to make it fire. The last but not the least , we should not make a god-like monster, though gauss gun is powerful. I think the modders should let the players still have other choices, so we have to make a limitation to its ammo capacity, or its speed of firing, etc. Thank you and sorry for my broken English. BulletSix
i don´t have anything to say about models, since i lack the knowledge of formats, requirements and whatnot. As for the gauss-ammo, this could be done with creating a blueprint for a the ammo requiring a railspike and something high-powered like the plasma-ammo or even somethin that has to be aquired piece by piece (e.g. fission cell) ... vashts1985
you cannot port content from other games. its illegal. (beth says so, so it is) however there are people that are working on new models for it so there maybe some in the neer future
SpeedyB64
I am currently working on a line of rail guns (or similar magnetic weapons). I would love to see a Gauss rifle (I am not entirely sure what a gauss rifle is but it sounds awesome).
BulletSix
the following is afaik, which may be totall off ;) a Gauss weapon is a weapon that accereates its projectile trough magneic fields / a magnetic field along the barrel.(hmm ... basically its the same as a railgun, methinks).*dark chilly voiche* THE LORE *dark chilly voice ends*says that you can get insane muzzle velocities and close to zero recoil. And the ammo would be basically a nail or better some slug out of magnetic material, since the energy is delivered by the weapon itself rather than a propellant or other part of the bullet. The reason i mentioned factoring ammunition out of e.g. rail-spikes and some energy-carrier, was that you would need quite some power for the weapon, not the bullet. E.g. you build a pack of 20 [insert desired gauss ammo name] out of 20 rail spikes an a fission battery, where the fission battery would power the weapon long enough to fire the 20 slugs. Since it doesn´t seem possible to configure aweapon to require an additional power source (like normally a gatling would require an battery-pack for the barrel-rotating motor), this would allow to make ammunition scarce. Edit:i found some fact to fiction:there are really some differences between a Gauss-rifle [G] and a rail-gun [R] the [G] uses coils around the barrel for accelerating the projectile whereas [R] uses two coils at the side of the barrel/bullet to accelereate. But both are magnetic accelerators turned to a weapon.there are some interesting articles: [G] http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gau%C3%9Fgewehr[R] http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Railgunboth german, sorryand for [R] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electromagnet...vices_(fiction)and [G] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gauss_gunin english so basically i´d say its the same fo our "application" :)
SpeedyB64
Ok so a Gauss is basically a railgun but instead of magnetic rails the coils are wrapped around or along the barrel (I just checked Wikipedia). Apparently the gun I made for the game is actually a gauss gun because it has coils along the gun. I may have to rename it from the L.A.R.G. (linear accelerating rail gun) to the L.A.G.G. (linear accelerating gauss gun).
GreyViper
Basically its a coilgun http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coilgun. Both the one in F2 and Stalker. But I do have to admit the Stalker gun model looks good. Combining 6 of these barrel to make a gattling gauss might look interesting.
