MushroomElm
I'm in the process of trying to learn how to create my own house with zero experience. I've been following a YouTube tutorial, but it's quite dated but I've found it generally helpful ( https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLC0Xs7hB_z1CjQpT4zkk9s3X0Hu1msSxy ) I've gotten the doors linked to the interior and exterior and I'm now just trying to load the building into Riverwood, just for testing as the video did. Except, he doesn't explain how he "uploads" the mod and I can't find anything about that. What am I supposed to do with the "Test.esp" file? It's in Vortex and Loot, both say it's active, but the house does not appear when I use the "coc riverwood" command.
cumbrianlad
Hmm. Darkfox127's guides are pretty good. I'm not really following how you are trying to "load the building into Riverwood". Either the building is in Riverwood, or it's not. If your esp is active, the building will be where you put it in CK... if you've put a building into one of Riverwood's exterior cells. I think we need to go back to basics here. Those tutorials by DF127 relate to making the interior of the house. Your esp has your interior stored. I'm guessing that you haven't put an exterior in Riverwood... and you haven't linked a load door from your interior cell to the exterior in Riverwood. Let me know if I'm wrong with that guess and we'll go from there. BTW, you don't need to call yourself a noob! we all have to start somewhere and nobody here thinks any the worse of you for asking questions. c0ax599
Well, in his first parts of the tutorial, you're only building the interior. It's the 3rd part where he places the exterior. If you've gotten that far, and then linked the door as you say, then you can go see it in Riverwood. The way you're using coc is wrong. "coc" takes you to a interior cell. So the correct way would be "coc playerhouse". Now it might not be "playerhouse", it would be whatever you've named the interior of your mod. In his tut it's "playerhouse". Hmm, I just tested "coc riverwood" in the game, and that does work. Learn something new everyday. But to go to a specific exterior location, use "coe" instead. I went in game just now, and tested coe 4,-13. That takes you to where he placed the house in the tutorial. How did I find those coordinates? I use this mod to get the exterior coordinates, which helped me in quickly getting to the location i wanted when making my own playerhouse.Where In Oblivion Am I? Except, he doesn't explain how he "uploads" the mod and I can't find anything about that. What am I supposed to do with the "Test.esp" file? It's in Vortex and Loot, both say it's active, but the house does not appear when I use the "coc riverwood" command. Not exactly sure what you mean by that. You did get the "exterior" of the house placed near Riverwood right? You do not need to "upload" anything (to Nexus) at this point, and if you mean getting the exterior placed, he did cover that in Tut #3. If you got it placed, and use the "coc riverwood" command, it puts you at the other side of Riverwood. You need to go through the town to the other end, and the house should be up on a little bluff near there. Also, the "test.esp, is the name he used for the tutorials sake. You could name that whatever you want, and you do not need to do anything with it at this point. Hope this might help a little bit, I'm confused by your wordings a little. But it's all good, only way to learn is ask. And keep following tutorials. Darkfox127's are among the best. Also there some text tutorials, and info that would help you alot. How to make a House Mod by M7This tutorial is alot different from the one you watched on youtube. It's basically how to build a house from total scratch. I wouldn't use it right now since it's a bit different. But it does have some info that might help you understand some things. And of course there are other tutorials on the Creation Kit out there. I kinda hate posting links because i don't want to confuse you from the tutorial you're using now. But this one might help you along.Bethesda Tutorial World Hookup Good luck, and hopefully you'll get some more replies. I can help to the degree that I can help. Edited March 1, 2020 by c0ax599

cumbrianlad
Sorry, c0ax599, i just don't want to give the OP the wrong impression. COC means Change Of Cell. It does not only apply to interiors. You can use COC Whiterun and that will land you on the bridge near Whiterun in an exterior cell. There's something basic going wrong here. No need to complicate matters just yet. cumbrianlad
c0ax599, I learn something about CK every day. probably either of us can help. Let's see how the OP responds. I'm quite happy to go with it. i don't think the issue is about coc into a cell when testing, though.I think it's more basic.
MushroomElm
Sorry, I got caught up at work. Let me see if I can clarify my issues a little better.. I'm not really following how you are trying to "load the building into Riverwood".if you've put a building into one of Riverwood's exterior cells. I've placed the farmhouse exterior on the path of Riverwood, directly outside of the entrance by the blacksmith shop. I use "coc Riverwood" at the games main screen to instantly load a "fresh" character into Riverwood so no mod will, hopefully, conflict. Also, the "test.esp, is the name he used for the tutorials sake. You could name that whatever you want, and you do not need to do anything with it at this point. I've named it TestThornwood.esp and it's in the correct folder that CK put it into automatically, and Loot recognized it. Using "coc thornwood" does not work either, for the interior, and that is what I have named the cell itself(Not the part inside the edit, where you change the door name/ownership). I'll have to take a look at the other tutorials..Maybe they'll help me out.
MushroomElm
Alright. I've tried with a fresh install of Skyrim, no mods, and a restart of my own mod. "Test.esp" is in the data folder and Loot can see it, but it is not activated. How is it that I activate it??
cumbrianlad
Since you did a fresh instal have you opened Vortex to check that the esp is 'enabled' in the plugins section?
