You can't continue fighting. HELP PLEASE

CommanderT1562

Recommended Posts

Okay, so I need to find the mod that is doing this. When I die, it doesnt roll back to the last save, instead it just says "You can't continue fighting." at the top. Then I cannot take out my weapons or do anything! The only fix I found was I would need to use my vampire powers to feed on someone, I don't think this is related to belua sanguanare though, because I haven't noticed this thing until recently. Has anybody had it say "You can't continue fighting." or does anybody know which mod that it is causing this? Or a way to stop it? I also notice that when I walk/run away from a fight it doesn't say "You can't continue fighting" like it usually does, but it still makes me sheath my weapons and I cannot draw, just like when I die.

Could someone please help? This is my first time on the forums and this post has 0 views, and then a post that came after this one already has 2 pages of responses? I really need help, because my game continuously does this and I can't find a variable in console commands and it makes it impractical to play the game as an illusion mage, while I try to sneak away from fights. Pleeeaasseee help!

Bump.

Oh, and here are some screenies...

This is showing how I have my magic equipped...

And this is showing me falling WITH the magic equipped...

And finally... Me where I should have died, but instead it makes me unable to equip my magic and then I don't die...

first off, next time please attach your Boss log as a .txt file, it makes it hard to read all of the info in your post. I would recommend disabling all mods, and enabling and testing one by one until you find the culprit. The error does sound like it's coming from a mod involving race transformation or some sort of condition (vampire lord, werewolf, etc.) and is probably a mod conflict. Just disable everything and start one at a time. If you are advanced at this then you can speed up the process by ignoring mods that don't add scripts that could effect this.

I will tell you now that in my 5 years of modding bethesda games 90% of the time errors like this are caused by an incorrect load order, disabled master, outdated mod versions, and general mistakes on the users part. Just be thorough and analyze everything that could be causing the issue.

This happened to me once when I typed "Resurrect" on myself and then saved. Big mistake. I had to revert way back to an earlier save, I think that's what I had to do anyway it was a long time ago, so I'm not sure, sorry I can't be more help.

I wish someone would help with my problem. Let me know if this is the issue, I would be interested in knowing.

PS. Come to think of it I think I may have had to start a new game because the game was still registering me dead. I don't remember sorry.

I am probably going to reinstall skyrim... again. And then I will just make a new character, I only got to apprentice level spells. And my overall character level was 11. If I run into this problem again, I will know which mod it is, because from now on I will not just be randomly installing mods that look cool, and I will be checking which mods I install for any bugs.

To any people who are encountering this same issue: The only solution to this of right now is to turn off mods one by one, or to reinstall skyrim and make a new character.

P.S Thanks for your suggestions ;)

I am very sorry you had to reinstall and go throught that crap. Indeed it is very easy to install too many mods haha. I would recommend making a new save every three saves or so, that way if your mod config gets messed up you don't lose more than an hour or two of progress. The save files really are quite small.

To be honest, I'm not a guru, but often the "Contains Dirty Edits" should be addressed with TES5Edit and cleaned up... That was most likely the source of your issue considering most of the mods from BOSS say that there is dirty edits that needed cleaning.

Also:

You are still loading hothtrooper44 armor_compilation.esp when the skyredone explicitly says not to load it.

You are also loading all 3 cloak.esp's (craft, no imperial), only load one.

Update Claralux

Clean your mods with TE5Edit

Install wyre bash and make a bashed patch, you have a lot of relev and delev tagged mods. This will solve a lot of overwrite and conflicting in the leveled lists.

To be honest Skyrim Redone is a huge overhaul and I'm 99% sure that it and your vampire overhaul are not playing nice.

I don't think the TES5Edit Dirty Edits tracking is accurate. I don't know how it works exactly, but from the look of that it claims practically every mod made is loaded with "Dirty Edits", and someone reported that my own mod Path of Shadows had a massive load of "Dirty Edits" despite my certainty that it does not. So I wouldn't rely on that.

The only way I could even imagine it being capable of knowing what was definitely a dirty edit is if it registered any altered files that have no actual changes made, but I know with absolute certainty that Path of Shadows, at least, has no such thing in it.

If you try letting TES5Edit "Clean" someone else's mod, it'll likely just break it.

I'm looking at your mod in TES5Edit and can confirm that it definitively contains "Identical to Master" records (a.k.a. "Dirty Edits"). If you don't believe me, open your mod (and only your mod) in TES5Edit. It will automatically load any master files (which is just Skyrim.esm). Once it's loaded and you receive the "Background Loader finished" message, right click in the left pane and choose "Apply filter for cleaning". once that has finished, expand the tree for your mod and then expand the Game Setting branch. There are four here that are in grey text with a green highlight. They're "ITMs". You can go through the subrecords listed in the right pane and see that you've included these records with absolutely no changes to the vanilla subrecords. There's also one under the Perks tree.

TES5Edit's conflict detection and cleaning filters are powerful cross references of the records and subrecords currently loaded into the program.

Unless this has changed with the updates and scripts can see references stored in masters, like all of the other Bethesda games predating Skyrim, there are cases where ITMs are necessary thanks to the "new and improved" Papyrus system (say you have a script that references them included in your mod). It is possible to break a mod by cleaning if it has such scripts, otherwise ITMs are bad form at the least and unnecessary potential conflict points at the worst. It's almost impossible for normal users to know whether or not this is the case without thoroughly testing (as this type of thing will show up in the Papyrus log if a broken script were to be parsed). That's why the BOSS team are currently working on and providing cleaning suggestions.
