I am trying to complete the quest the american dream and when it comes to the part where president eden says take the FEV vial i take it and then it still says in my quest list that i have to take the FEV vial and no matter what I do it still remains on the quest list and even when i take the vial to Elder Lyons it will take me to through the dialogue and when im supposed to be talking with the other scribe i am unable to move and i can't see my HUD.

What do i have to do??!?!?

Please answer, thanks.

I had a similar problem just last night. Mine was a little different but the end result is still the same. My quest says to escape raven rock even after I escape thus I can't start Take It Back! Elder Lyons and Sarah just stand staring at each other at the Citadel. I solved it with "setstage 00014e91 60" or something similar... maybe "setstage 00014e91 10" but I think I used 60. Type "sqs 00014e91" to see a list of stage id numbers you can try. It's not the best fix because it does skip the dialog with lyons and Liberty Prime won't move but it gets Lyons to meet you at the purifier where you can then finish Take It Back!

-- Playing on the PC --

I ran into this problem and searched for ways around it without straying too far from the play-through. Nothing worked, tried reloading my saves even back to before Raven Rock. Eventually what I did was to go back to the Lab in the Citadel and before I got down to where you "freeze" and all the trouble ensues, I did a quicksave.. then did these steps

1. ~ enableplayercontrols
2. unequipped my armor, equipped a fat man and blew myself up forcing a reload..
(it helps with some crashing,so I did it just in case..)
3. Respawned
4. *OPTIONAL* Because she wasnt there, I spawned Sarah Lyons with ~player.placeatme 0001d430 (her base ID) she then walks down to join Elder/Scribe
5. ~ setstage 00014e91 60 to force quest trigger into granting me "Take it back!" quest..
(Note: Liberty Prime won't move etc)
6. ~ CompleteQuest 14E8F (Quest ID of "The American Dream") which completes it leaving "Take it Back!"
7. At the Enclave barrier ~ tcl (since we have no LP to break the emitters)
8. ~tcl after going through the barrier (to turn collision back on)
9. walk to the gift shop entrance where Sarah Lyons should be waiting.
(if you spawned a 2nd one earlier, yes there will be 2 of them! don't panic)
10. FINISH =)

Also mentioned in another Thread, you can go Here and see another method. I haven't tried this yet. (Thanks to AlfredTetzlaff for this.) <-- Have since tried it and it wouldn't work for me..

so I tried..

Loading a save after Raven's Rock but before I went into the lab. while standing in the Citadel courtyard I used ~moveto player 0001d430 (her base ID) or 0001d44f (her Ref ID) to move Sarah Lyons to me; she then walked her assigned route down to join Elder/Scribe (and I simply followed her) then I chose the "I need a minute" and went off about other quests.

*note, I deactivated all my mods after trying the way mentioned here because it didn't help; then used my 2nd method. got the conversation done.. went back to courtyard. saved.. and reloaded the game with the mods active (a bit of a pain to collect companions, gear stashes etc again. but better than a broken game I thought..)

I hope this helps. its my first post.

(Edit = fixed spelling error, added other method)

The only problem with this method, and the first one posted by Cracksocks above, is that if you have Broken Steel installed,
after you start it up, the Enclave energy barriers will still be
operational even though we can assume Prime destroyed them (but not
exactly seeing him do that). Is there any way I can disable these
barriers via console command?

From the Fallout 3 Wiki: http://www.falloutwiki.com/The_American_Dream

"You can fix the problem of quest not progressing at BoS by typing "startquest 00014e8f" and "setstage 00014e91 1" in console then speak with Elder Lyons and quest will resume as normal. If you have Broken-Steel, you need to do "stopquest 00014e8f" after you have talked with Elder Lyons."

I tried this several times. Mods or without mods. Doesn't work. Elder

Lyons just stands there and cannot be interacted with, nor can Rothchild

and Sentinel Lyons.

your saved game will not work. it contains GFWL code. and simply disabling the GFWL after you have progressed that far will not help. you need to start over again with out the DRM interfering with the games data. check data folder for random file permission on th bsa archives.
