venomousey
So I recently wiped my computer and lost all my files. Bad week so far. I have finally got the PC back up and running smooth so it's time to reinstall Skyrim and get the modest list of mods back up and running. I don't have Dawnguard or any intent to get it soon. My Issue is every time I load an .esp file created by NPC Editor .75.etc, the only complete one available now. It corrupts the save files and the character creation menu, replacing my characters race, Redguard with two empty boxes reminiscent of the old font wingdings, and every race name with similar odd font junk in the creation menu. This CTD's all saved games upon load attempt, when it doesn't just CTD upon hitting play. I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled Skyrim multiple times over the past 3 days, the last time going so far as to uninstall Steam client. I have tried loading only Belles better females and natural eyes which is my bare minimum for making Dunmer in this game palateable, and then installing npc edit with no other mods installed and it still Corrupts and CTD's. I used NPC Edit frequently to edit in game NPC's for the greater part of the past year and it was working perfectly up until the computer crash. I've even gone so far as to download the Creation Kit to make the same modifications, watching tutorials and pouring over forums for hours, only to run into a mess of other bugs caused by the kit, and be unable to do things as simple as adding a lip collor to the NPC's face attributes. I'm just trying to get my Skyrim back into the working order it was in pre PC wreck. And I've reached the end of my patience. Any suggestions? MShoap13
Is NPC Editor updated for 1.8? :psyduck:
venomousey
No it isn't, but it was working 4 days ago with no difficulties. And as far as I understand 1.8 is a month old.
MShoap13
Try opening one of the plugins it creates in the CK to see if it's throwing any errors. Outside of this or using TES5Edit I don't really know of any other troubleshooting steps you could take to try and resolve your issue.
venomousey
In case anyone else has this problem as well. I found a suggestion somewhere in my hours of research, don;t know who orig did this but I'll pass it on. It seems .75 throws corrupt esp's. Since the only other version up is .67 I created an esp for both npc's I wanted to mod with .67, then installed .75 and only loaded the BSA from it. It's possible to continue tweeking the bsa file with 75, so long as you don't load the esp from it. I'm hoping the mod creator comes back at some point or, someone gets permission to take over this mod. But until then, or until the next path this seems to be working. Jason2112
Two guesses .... 1. You added some crazy data in their profiles ... Steam updated ... killed your "hacks" 2. This one always fixes my errors with Npc Creator ... (even gfx errors) Load up the npc.esp with CK as Active File. Then in the Object Windowin the filter, type in your npc's name. Under "Editor ID" on the right displayin the Object Window, highlight your npc. and press: Ctrl+F4 and confirm export. Now all your face .bsa data is in the Skyrim's folders. Save the mod. Delete the .bsa file for that npc. (save it someplace to be sure) That should do it, unless #1 apply's. In which case you may be able tofix the .esp while in the CK editor. Good luck! This will make all filesinvolved be up to date. (and fix your heads) NOTE: If your using any mods on the npc's (like hair),the CK may try to double save them in your new .esp ... o.OMake sure you say "No" to them questions on load up.I honestly forgot if you say Yes or No .../facepalmWell on the bright side you can only mess up once!If you do ... search the filter for the word "duplicate", thenjust delete the ones the extra mods just made..
