bonghead1918
Hello modding community I know you guys must be stressed out by all the other great requests out there. However i can't help but to put up another request since I was heavily disappointed that the .223 pistol didn't make it into the sequel of Fallout. The most powerful handgun some of us Fallout players still used even though we already had a gauss rifle in the backpack. Yes, i am talking about the .223 Pistol from Fallout I & II... Or some may refer to it as Deckers gun from the movie Bladerunner. This gun is a lore friendly way to kill super mutants and would be awesome to have in Fallout 3. http://www.goldenarmor.com/weapons/blade1.jpghttp://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/.223_Pistol Edit - Yeah i know: It's a junk gun made of a sawed off sniper rifle slapped together with a revolver which needs to be loaded by the rifle repeater bolt. (I am not sure what people call that part on the gun)...
Bean0
I suspect it didn't make it into Fallout 3 because it was a direct copy of the gun from Blade Runner.http://www.hooverae.com/upload/pics/DSC05812.jpghttp://www.collider.com/uploads/imageGallery/Blade_Runner/blade_runner.jpgI don't know if they got permission from the movie studio to use it in the first place, if they did then perhaps they couldn't get permission to use it in F3. Also there's a problem with the game mechanics where the gun fires both .357 (or was it .44? Some other revolver bullet?) and .223. I don't know of any script in F3 that would allow you to switch between fire modes or the bullets you're using for that matter. Not to say it's not do-able though. The other problem is that because it's a 1 hand bolt-action we would need a new animation so we're at Bethesda's mercy for now.
vashts1985
its not a bolt action. thats just for looks. its really a 5 shot revolver
Bean0
I beg to differ Vash. You can see the bolt pulled back and open in this picture:http://www.weaponsblog.org/images/blade_runner_blaster_m2019_.jpghttp://cache.gizmodo.com/images/thumbs/5cbcb725a295366368f942da097920a6.jpgThat bolt has to serve some purpose. It's a Steyr receiver on a handgun frame with a revolver built into it. You can see in pic 2 the rifle magazine removed (which is weird because the revolver barrel would block the bullets from feeding from the rifle magazine)
vashts1985
nope. regular old revolver. nothing but Hollywood make believe. ok maybe not regular old. supposedly they used a charter arms .44 bulldog and attached a steyr .222 model SL receiver on top of it. however it has no barring on how the gun works. it just looked futuristic ans cool for a movie
jaysus
its being made yet... some guy on the official forums works on it and has the model nearly done yet... as to how it works... you have that usualy revolver and above that you have the rifle bolt action system... its just a bit awkward that the barrel is just aslong as the bullet or even shorter... the bullet would fall out if you locked it... bonghead1918
http://www.bethsoft.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=918637  ... You my dear sir vashts1985, deserve the title of a modding community superhero!.Also kudos to Jaysus and bean0 for clearing up the technical details - I know it's kinda weird how the gun is supposed to work and yes, there are a lot of controversies. I can assure you, that not even the designer of that gun coulld come up with a satisfying explanation...I for my part would already be satisfied to blow a supermutants head away in one shot with that gun. May it be laser or a hard hitting bullet, what counts is the nostalgic feeling behind the design. ;)
Bean0
Ah, jubilation!Another new weapon confirmed (or at least hinted at, which is good too).
Wreckless1
If one actually looked at that bolt-action, you'd realize that trying to chamber a round in it would just leave around 75% of the cartridge hanging out of the front of the gun. There is no barrel/chamber fitted to it. But it truly is one of the most charismatic movie guns made, right up there with the M41A Pulse Rifle from Aliens. I'm stoked that Vash has it in the works! :)
