kstout6
Hi fellow gamers, I am very new to this generation of gaming after being on hiatus for a very long time. I came across some videos on Youtube on this old lady playing Skyrim. The way she described her experienced piqued my interest so I purchased a used gaming computer and purchased Skyrim. Lo and behold, I was floored on how gaming had progressed. Many of you have no idea how lucky you are to actually have an infinite supply of save files, and the graphics and the things that you can do now is unbelievable. Anyways, I also stumbled on modding, where people, who are not the developers, could alter the experience by creating new costumes or clothes, new weapons, quests, etc. I recently got Fallout 4 just because I want to try putting mods on it. The mod section in Fallout 4 is pretty good, but someone mentioned NexusMods, and I found way more things on here. The thing is, I don't even know how to manually put a mod on here. I have found various tutorials, and none of them seemed to work.
HeyYou
Most mods are pretty straightforward. You get an esp file, and maybe an archive (ba2, or bsa....) drop them into your data folder, activate them in the "mods" menu, and down the road you go. Then you get into mods that offer different choices for the experience you are looking for, and things get complicated FAST. :) For the beginner, a mod manager is an easy way to get started. Vortex, Mod Organizer 2, and Nexus Mod manager are pretty much the top three at this point. I use NMM, and it works pretty well. It isn't 'officially' supported any more, but, there is still an 'unofficial' community continuing development. There is a LOT to learn, but, there is a LOT you can do to the game as well. :) This is a good starting point for learning to mod your game. There are others that get even more in-depth out there in internetland as well. :) If you have questions, go to the game specific forums, and ask there. Lots of helpful folks here. :D
Deleted54170User
Go do what HeyYou suggests there. See the word This that is Underlined. Left Click on his word where the word This is and a page will open with more instructions on including how to open a mod 7zip or Rar and move the ...esp and bsa file to the Data folder. Mods, not tools. Most tools go directly into the games main folder, Main file looks like this in your drive. C:/Program Files (x86)/Fallout 4 or Skyrim Enjoy!
