Ok so I just bought my computer and Skyrim.

HP Envy h8-1420t PC Intel

System Specs:

- Intel core i7-3770 3.4G 8M 77W CPU

- AMD Radeon HD 7570 1GB DDR3 FH GFX

- 1TB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive

- 300W uATX reg PSU

- Windows 8 64-bit OS US

- HP WLAN 802.11 b/g/n 1x1 MCard

- 8GB DDR3-1600 DIMM (2x4GB) RAM

When I start Skyrim, from the main menu, I click on "new" game, than "yes" when it asks me if im sure. it then goes to the loading screen where is shows a statue of a dragon every time. here is where it freezes for a second or two than skyrim closes completely. In the bottom-right corner of my screen, on the taskbar, it says "Display Driver AMD Stopped Responding Has Successfully Recovered". I have looked everywhere but I cant seem to find a solution to this problem. Its a brand new PC and I really don't want to go uninstalling drivers and stuff so if some can help me that would be much appreciated.

I even called HP support, but they said I have to contact the game company but I cant seem to find a tech support phone number for Bethesda... so if you have that number I would be greatly appreciative.

- Thanks in advance -

Grab the latest and greatest drivers for your vid card from ATI, and install them. That should be your FIRST step.

Did you install the game in the default (program files) directory? If yes, uninstall it, and reinstall somewhere else. (C:\Games\Skyrim would be good. Though, being a steam game makes life a tad more interesting.)

Final solution: Upgrade to Windows 7. :D
