Mekansm
Hi fellas. I've noticed something very, very wrong with my new installation of Skyrim. It has really bad FPS and the game scripts are all running badly. During the Helgen part during the beginning, everyone's lines were really messed up in terms of speed. For example, sometimes there is a delay (3-5 seconds) between NPC dialogues. When I enter the fort with Hadvar, he takes about 10 seconds before he actually enters. When he cuts my PC's binds loose, his dagger animation only happens about 3 seconds after the binds are cut. I'm very, very familiar with the pace during the starting zone as I've made and remade characters many times. However, whats got me very confused and frustrated is: This is a completely new installation on a NEW laptop, so it can't be an issue of too much junk in it. And this new laptop is the exact same model of my old one (which got broken in 3 months) and Skyrim ran perfectly on it. There only two differences between this new laptop and my old one when installing Skyrim is: 1. New laptop's 'default' resolution is 1920x1080 where the old one was lower (around 1368x768, if I'm not mistaken). 2. I used a CD installation for the new laptop whereas I used a Steam download for the old one. With regards to mods, my old laptop's Skyrim had more than 50 mods running but my new one only has basic graphic ones such as WATER, Skyrim HD 2k, SMIM & etc, nothing my old one doesn't have. TL;DR version: Got a new laptop, exact same model as previous one where Skyrim ran with no problem. Installed Skyrim on new laptop but encountered terrible FPS and slow game script problems. Any ideas what's causing these problems? :wallbash: If any more information is required before a proper assessment can be made, please let me know! zyg0tic
Disable all mods, even ones that seem harmless, and try again.
korun
you said no difference between your 2 laptop?, there is one obviously = résolution :) install with steam or a cd is the same for skyrim HD 2k run the lite version, it's the same as the big one, meaning there is not a real difference, then go back to a lower résolution but windowed on hight it's the best . Mekansm
Thanks for the replies fellas. I removed all the mods and it ran alright, but the graphics on Vanilla Skyrim is just terrible, lol. I switched from Skyrim HD 2k to the Lite version and I also set my resolution under 'Options' from 1920x1080 to 1368x768. Yet, everytime I install ANY enb and even when I choose the most performance friendly option possible, everything still runs soooo slow. The combat is laggy and actions require about a second to kick in. I am already making a huge compromise on graphics just to let it be slightly more tolerable. The most frustrating thing is that I managed to run good ENBs with high graphic settings with no problem last time. But with a clean, new laptop somehow I got downgraded. It's driving me nuts :wallbash:
Mekansm
Oh, this may sound silly but it may help; One thing I've noticed is that last time on my old laptop, running Skyrim (even on high graphic settings), my laptop would not get too hot. But now, even with minimal graphic settings, my laptop is already heating up fast.
