zorgoth
I've been trying to get HGEC and Roberts Males (v52) to play nicely with each other for the past several hours, because I can't just stop and say "enough is enough" anymore. I'm literally biting my hand to relieve some measure of anger, probably preventing myself from lying out in the middle of a highway and waiting to get hit by a bus. ANGER™. Anyway. Robert's males apparently likes to screw over the High Elves in every way possible. They have imperial body textures, but yellow heads. Whatever, I'm sure you've all heard that problem before, considering I've seen the issue several times in my numerous voyages through Google. (Usually with Luchaires HGEC Body Seam Reducer Mod.) The problem was, from my understanding, that Roberts was trying to implement an egt file and that just screwed up the texture recoloring that High Elves have to undergo to look right. I thought the issue would be fairly easy to fix. I uninstalled the Robert's Males v52 OMOD, and re-installed without using any egt or smoothing-related stuff. Doesn't work. I tried using that fix with luichare's seam reducer to swap out high elves with golden saint's textures. Doesn't work (the elves end up with imperial-looking heads and golden saint bodies... I don't even). I drag the egts straight out of the BSA to try and revert back to some level of normality. Doesn't work. I tried uninstalling HGEC and Roberts and installing again. Doesn't work. Etc, etc, etc. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Do they just not work together? If they don't, then how do I fix the high elves? Even without roberts in at all, the elves refuse to go back to their normal textures. I'm rebuilding my bashed patch as often as I make any major changes, I think. I am so frustrated. D; (I also apologize if this is a really simple fix/common question. My google-fu is probably not up to par.)
Hickory
I am confused. I use Robert Male, and I have never encountered the issues you note with High Elves, but more than that, I am confused about your assertion that Roberts does not work with HGEC -- Roberts is for males, HGEC is for females, and have entirely different textures and meshes. I don't even know where to begin...
zorgoth
Well, I don't entirely understand why it's a problem either. After all my efforts on Google, you'd think I would have found something about the topic if it existed for other people. Here's some more info, though. I have Ozmo's High Rez textures installed. BBB as well. I've encountered this problem before (I also had Robert's Females at the time, and still got weird discoloration on high elves both male and female) and with a new install of Oblivion I wasn't running into any trouble with HGEC until I decided to try Robert's Males again. Then the old issues started cropping up. Maybe my rooting around in the topic of EGT files was completely misguided, since I don't know anything about them. What else could be causing High Elves to lose their yellow bodies?
Nephenee13
Well for one, HGEC and Roberts don't touch faces at all. Second, as Hickory says, since one is exclusively for males, and the other for females, there is no possibility of conflict. Thirdly, literally hundreds of thousands of people use and have used these mods, so they do work properly. Fourthly, give links to each mod you are trying to use (including your face and body textures), and post your mod load order (preferably from Wrye Bash) And finally, face/body texture mismatch is a common problem in Oblivion, and can be very hard to fix. Should have posted my load order in the first place. :) Also, Robert's does in fact touch the faces; I'm using the optional textures right now. If I recall correctly, I believe HGEC installed a face texture too. Though, it's late. I'm likely not thinking properly... Not ever really thinking properly now that I'm going on about that. *Ehem.*Robert's is using the textures that came in the OMOD, HGEC is using Ozmo's textures: http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/20022. I am also using the faces that came in the v52 OMOD of Robert's Males, so... that's all here I suppose: http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/40532. On that note, I should add that I've modified the texture provided by what I think is Robert's mod for the high elf males in photoshop to some success. I'm not too good at texturing, but I just had to give it a yellow overlay and it doesn't look half bad. If I can make the females work, I'll be set... It's still probably best that I figure out what's really causing the issue though. :P
Naktis
I think I know the problem. Just checked the texture paths in Construction Set (MaleBodyReplacerV5 esp. file) for High Elves and noticed that upper and lower body as well as hand texture paths leads to imperial textures. Simply remove those textures from the three slots, Foot slot has correct texture path so leave it as it is. That should fix your problem  Edited December 15, 2012 by Naktis
DrakeTheDragon
I think I know the problem. Just checked the texture paths in Construction Set (MaleBodyReplacerV5 esp. file) for High Elves and noticed that upper and lower body as well as hand texture paths leads to imperial textures. Simply remove those textures from the three slots, Foot slot has correct texture path so leave it as it is. That should fix your problem  That's not quite the issue here. Yes, those slots not covered by the body mods' textures are often left on Vanilla Imperial textures intentionally, but as long as it's a mesh from the body mods it will never use anything else but the "foot" texture. The NiTriShapes/Strips inside the body meshes and adapted clothing/armor items are all named "foot" for a reason, whereas in Vanilla body meshes and clothing/armor items they're named "upperbody"/"arms", "lowerbody", "hand" and "foot" respectively. And that's the real issue. You must not use any Vanilla body meshes from inside clothing/armor items anymore, or they will be using Imperial textures (or the wrong Vanilla textures, not fitting the body mods', High-Res, or whatever else textures at all). That's why Stock Clothing and Armor Replacers are in fact all else but "optional". So, messing around with the texture pathes above will only work around the issue, as you'll still be using Vanilla body meshes and Vanilla body textures inside clothing/armor items and they will never fit or use your high-res texture replacements. If the meshes are all installed and working correctly, there will be no reference to the texture slots set to "Imperial" textures left anymore and they could basically be set to whatever you want without having any effect. And let's not forget that without a "bashed patch" only 1 ESP can ever control the textures for an "entire" race. Male "and" female textures will be overridden by the last ESP loading, no matter if it's only a male/female body replacer or not. Without Wrye Bash male and female genders cannot be controlled by plugins seperately.
zorgoth
Thought I'd pop in to say I haven't forgotten about this thread just yet. The problem persists even after all my meddling. Like I mentioned earlier, I tried recoloring some textures and stuff to try and make them fit the high elf vibe, but the faces are still all wrong and... I've mostly just been borking everything up by myself. I guess no one knows what I've done wrong by now, then? I'll do anything, at this point. Don't even care if I have to uninstall, re-install... jump out of a moving vehicle. Fight a bear. Anything. :P
