KnightRangersGuild
Please someone fix this, It really drives my nuts when I enter a dungeon or crypt that hasn't been disturbed in a thousand years yet it's all lit up with candles and torches! I mean that's just stupid, whoever came up with that brilliant idea needs to be fired! Why even have freaking touches if you never need them? I attempted to do this and gave up because it was ruining my dungeon experience, so I was hopping someone else can do this that's beat the game or something. PLEASE, this is very immersion breaking for me. And I'm NOT talking about just darker dungeons ether!!! There's plenty of mods out there for that. I mean just take out the freaking candles and hearths and torches. You can leave them in anywhere that is actually populated with npc's though! Thank you . Jitansgate
Sounds like a Vampires Paradise.
Deleted1308005User
Draugrs are afraid of the dark?
LordSarcasm
And the fact that you can find dwarven, orcish, and elven equipment in sealed, millenia-old crypts where no dwarves, elves, or orcs ever set foot likely as not make no problem to you? Dudeman325
Hrm, I get what you're saying, it may not be lore-friendly to see unlimited torches burning down there, but dungeons would be pretty boring if they were just... dark. Not everyone plays as a Khajiit. Just imagine the torches lit up when the Dragonborn showed up in some magickal way, just like how the Draugr wake up after thousands of years. stars2heaven
I do believe that there are some mods somewhere around here that do just this.
DaedricPrinceOfHeavyMetal
Draugrs still inhabit the ancitent nord tombs and walk around. And dwemer ruins are still working, not only the lights but the ventilation sistem (by those big tubes) etc. So it's not so "surrealistic" to have those dungeons iluminated :P
stars2heaven
Well I can see dwemer ruins being the way they are. They have lots of mechanical/magical creations, some of which attempt repairs on what machinery get's damaged. As far as draugr dungeons go, I'd just guess that the draugr themselves began to light the candles and fires again when they all started to wake up. bben46
There was a mod in Oblivion that had a very dark dungeon. The author recommended playing without a permanent light magic, and without any permanent night eye. It was pitch black except for the limited light from a carried torch. But, there were unlit torches and lanterns that could be lit from your torch. Or from a fireball spell. I spammed a low level fireball a lot, just threw it across the room to get a quick view. Then if it revealed any torches or lanterns - targeted them with another fireball. Night eye & light spells with a set duration really meant something in that one. More than once, you heard a click, click, click of bone striking the stone floor, then saw a pair of glowing eyes down an inky black passage. Dungeons of Ivellon - great mod. That should have been a option in the game - lights/no lights in dungeons. Or the higher the difficulty, the fewer lights in dungeons.
Dudeman325
That sounds really cool, and I can agree that a really dark dungeon or two would be fun, but if every stinking Draugr catacomb was pitch black (and those things are everywhere!)... Sheesh! Have fun! Edited December 15, 2012 by Dudeman325
