Thrillseeker
I want to change how no one in Skyrim cares if you steal the valuable crops that Skyrim's farmers depend upon for their livelihood. It was silly how in Morrowind the guards would hunt you down for accidentally picking a flower...but the fine was proportionate to the crime (like 2 gold or something), and if you pick ALL the flowers, you're clearly vandalizing public property. I'm pretty sure tearing up plants on people's property is considered property damage pretty much everywhere. And I can't imagine any farmer anywhere being indifferent to me strolling onto their farm, harvesting all their crops, and walking off with them. Killing a chicken is crime, but taking all the eggs isn't...how does that make sense? So I tried to do it myself, but apparently plants don't have an ownership tab, although hanging fish, and I'm assuming harvestable hanging rabbits, quails, etc. do.... What's the deal? Is there any easy way to this, or would we have to make a script and attach it to the plants?
Dudeman325
The way I look at it, they normally would pay you coin for "helping them harvest." If you take some crops with you instead, I don't think they'd mind all that much, since they don't have to pay you for "helping." Just imagine that you aren't taking all of it. It isn't really like one plant would only produce one item anyway. Have fun! Edit: Although, I could see the value to this if crops were tweaked to produce more via item lists, if someone did want to be a potato-thief... Hrm... I might keep an eye on this one... Setting up the quest to allow temporary ownership so that you could voluntarily harvest is a bit beyond my reach though. Edit 2: Ishara, if you think you can give me a tutorial on all these triggers you're speaking of, I might give this a shot, or at least contribute what I can. IsharaMeradin
hmm.... place a trigger box around the farmers plantsOn enter get a count of how many of the vegies that the player has, then on leave count again. If the count is higher, raise the alarm. However, some players do farm for the cash... so instead place a larger trigger box that encompasses the whole farm including the farmer who buys the product. When the player leaves that trigger box and the count is greater than what they had on enter, raise the alarm. If less don't. Of course there would be mods like the bags of holding which could be used to circumvent these checks :P But its a start.
