LE Followers Can Mine

One simple mod I'd like to see is one to allow your followers to mine, if they have a pickaxe, when you direct them to use an ore vein, instead of just saying "Can't do that, sorry."

 

In fact, they should be able to gather resources from any such site if they've the proper tools:

- Mining (with pickaxe)

- Chopping Wood (with axe)

- Milling (with wheat, and HF installed)

- Cutting Lumber (with mill owner's permission, and HF installed)

 

The one issue I can think of is that NPCs that mine or chop wood in the game don't actually produce any resources, or expend the site, but just go through the animations indefinitely. I'm not sure how one would alter this behavior to gather resources as the player does.

I thought followers could chop wood with Dawnguard (actually gaining firewood), or an update that came alongside it... Maybe someone can expand that principle to other item-producing furnitures? I've got a lot on my plate at the moment though.

I thought followers could chop wood even in the stock game. I'd been asked once if my wood chopping mod/script changes affected followers. There is some code in that script which seems to indicate that followers can indeed use the chopping block. I'd have to take a closer look.

 

I do know for a fact that followers are not setup to mine, there is no code in the script at all for them.

 

As far as the HF stuff, I've no clue about any of that. No HF here.

I was looking for this same thing. I wonder if it is possible. I have seen some amazing MODs. Some seem to do the impossible, but I have yet to find one that does this, seemingly, simple task. I want to be able to tell my follower to mine a resource, so I don't have too. :)

I was just looking for this same thing sarena or whatever her name is (the vampire lords daughter) Started mining some silver ore but when i go to trade with her she had nothing. funny thing is the spot she mined got depleted. Maybe there is some scripting in her to work with ( not a modder so no idea just a thought )
