amoebae
I just changed the brightness in the main Skyrim menu (for the first time since I last installed the game, although I don't ever remember this happening when I had it installed previously) and as soon as I moved the slider my monitor colour space changed (more blue, colder). When I tab out, my monitor is its correct colour. Tab back in, back to blue-tint. I made a fresh save, exited, reloaded that save, still the same. I exited, exited Steam, restarted everything, reloaded an earlier save before I changed the brightness, still blue-tinted. In fact, a couple of seconds after Skyrim starts, I see it switch to the new colour space. Now, I know some games force your monitor to adopt a particular colour space, but that usually happens as soon as you load them up. As I say, this hasn't happened to me in Skyrim before, and only happened when I moved the in-game brightness slider. I'm using an ENB at the moment, but I haven't heard of there being anything in there that might have an effect on monitor colour spaces. Also, I was curious when it happened, so I took a screenshot of the scene at the time, tabbed out and uploaded it, looked at it, and the colours are exactly as they should be - but tabbing back, well yeah, back to the tint. That confirms it's not anything to do with the game colours, but it's specifically my monitor colour space that is altering. Does anyone know how to force Skyrim to use my normal monitor colour set up again? Something in Skyrim's ini files, perhaps? What else might be causing that issue? amoebae
I have, incidentally, made sure my calibrated monitor profile is set to system-wide default under colour management. But it is still somehow being overridden and set back to standard sRGB when I start Skyrim. Any help would be much appreciated.
amoebae
The problem is solved - thanks to the user 5h4d0w - so if anyone else ever needs to solve this: Open your skyrimprefs.ini (Under "My Documents/My Games/Skyrim/"), find the line "fGamma=xx" and delete it. MotoSxorpio
Or don't adjust brightness with ENB running...
ch6sayki
same thing happened to me and I don't have any MODS installed. how can I change brightness in an ini file instead of in-game? deleting "fGamma=xx" just changes it all back and it re-spawns in the SkyrimPrefs.ini ... DoragonBornu
For google-search purposes, if the above method doesn't work for you as it did for me, do not delete the line 'fGamma=xx' instead replace the 'xx' values to zero. So it should look like this... 'fGamma=0'
