Never played oblivion before

Hi everyone ^_^

 

this is my first playthrough and im wanting mods that are bug fixes and just graphical stuff but im really clueless with mods so im looking for recommendations as i want the gameplay itself to be natural so i can enjoy the base of the mechanics first ^_^

 

EDIT: also armor mods cause i like alot of armors lol xD

For bugs, there's nothing more to say than the Unofficial Patch.

 

For graphics, I quite like Danis 13 Beauty Faces. Despite the name, it's not really a Pretty-Pretty mod, but an excellent vanilla-minded improvement to facial textures which greatly improves the look of Oblivion's NPCs without changing them completely like OCO, which is what most people are going to instantly suggest you use.

 

MajorJim's UI Updated is my preferred interface; though I prefer to remove the Stats and Hud portions of the mod. (The added features to the Stat page in particular is both unnecessary and ugly as sin.)

 

 

And I know what you said about the gameplay, but... I strongly advise to save yourself some frustration and use Balanced Creature Stats, especially if you're thinking of playing a Fighter class.

The sponginess of Oblivion's enemies at higher levels is legendarily absurd, and this one, vanilla-minded mod, corrects the vast majority of the problem without completely destroying the purpose of the level-scaling mechanic.

to be honest I would suggest vanilla game for your very first playthrough. It's not perfect but it will give you the sense of what you want to be better next time and just look for mods that mod it, or mod it yourself. I had maybe one or two game breaking bugs in vanilla, but you can get past that with console commands... I'm playing Oblivion again after long time and I'm modding my gameplay "on the fly" to satisfy my needs.

The Unofficial Oblivion Patch (and associated ones for the DLCs) don't make any big changes to the vanilla game beyond fixing a lot of bugs. EngineBugFixes is likewise not into changing the game as much as correcting issues.

 

Both require Oblivion Script Extender (again not a game changer ... in this case a "capability" extender for tools like EBF and UOP).

I agree with rycka. I played this game vanilla on xbox 360 years ago when I was in high school and only after all this time I've starting modding it up and playing it on PC with all changes envisioned.

 

I usually go for lore-friendly, realism, immersion, survival and hardcore mods.
