meisterschutz
I've been running skyrim on my laptop for over a year now, it runs fine in ultra with the hi-res and several mods. I tried to run it on my desktop and keep getting error messages about my resolution. I've tried changing the res on my monitors, even unplugged all but one, all drivers are up to date, tried changing the dimensions in SkyrimPrefs, unchecked all mods, tried every res option, verified integrity on Steam, deleted and reinstalled game, deleted and reinstalled Steam. Windowed mode gives an unsupported adapter message. My desktop is an Alienware Area 51 ALX, i7 980 X processor, 6 GB RAM, dual ATI Radeon HD 5900 graphics cards, and dual aw2310 3D monitors with 1920x1080 res. Any advice on what to try next, or help in making it work? Thanks.
gsmanners
What hardware is your laptop? I'm guessing it's not dual 3D display with 1920x1080. In my experience, the main factor in frame rate is resolution. With Skyrim you can go all the way down to 1024x640 (which is the only way I can get 60 fps on my system). Georgiegril
I'm sorry, I don't have Radeon so I am nowhere near an expert in your problem. However, I am just wondering if you made the necessary changes in your driver interface program (whatever the radeon equivalent of NVidia Inspector is..) For example, checking to make sure you have the correct options in the driver interface depending on using 2 drivers, multiple monitors, etc. Have you tried using just one card? Also, have you tested to see if your drivers are recognizing your monitors outside of skyrim? Finally, have you checked out the prefs.ini document to make sure that the game is correctly identifying the monitor/cards you are using?
