Berzus
A few months ago I made a new Witcher 3 installation and I decided to mod it for the first time; I started using Vortex for it, but after installing some mods I switched to W3MM because I realised that Vortex wasn't automatically installing new menu entries for the game and doing it by hand was a pain. I read that update 1.2 significantly improved witcher 3 support but I saw nothing about menu installation, which is the only thing keeping me away from vortex when it comes to this game, so I wanted to ask: has this feature been implemented and I just missed it, is it planned for the future, or not at all? P.S.: Vortex overall is a pretty cool tool, my thanks to the developers for their hard work.
Pickysaurus
I think it may be best if you try it out and then tell us if it's not working as expected? We integrate with the load order and script merger now, so perhaps that will include the feature you're talking about. Otherwise please send in feedback explaining the feature and providing steps to get it set up (i.e. which mods to install, how you know if it is or isn't working). It might take a bit, because I need to ensure I don't mess up my current installation that is being handled by W3MM.
Berzus
Okay, it seems Vortex still doesn't support the features I was talking about, sadly. I did find, however, and old issue report from March of last year asking for the same thing; it was added as a future milestone, but since the report is still marked as open I'll vote on it and try to add a bit more info on what I would like Vortex to do. If anyone's interested here's the link: https://github.com/Nexus-Mods/Vortex/issues/3855.
Pickysaurus
Thanks for providing detailed feedback. I'll be sure to bring it up with our team to make sure they read it (as the issue is fairly old and I'm not sure how GitHub treats those when it comes to notifications). No problem, I really like the idea of Vortex(like many others I'm sure) and I want it to become my main "home" for modding, so I'm happy to be of help. Could you point out a couple of mods adding new menu entries that the W3MM installs fine, but Vortex doesn't so I can test?

Could you point out a couple of mods adding new menu entries that the W3MM installs fine, but Vortex doesn't so I can test? If I recall correctly a few of the mods by wghost81 add new menu entries and sometimes new keybindings, like "Friendly Meditation", "Friendly Hud", "Friendly Stash", "Ghost Mode" and so on; I read somewhere that "Friendly Meditation" might have a slightly malformed input.xml file, since it looks like W3MM doesn't copy the line inside the group with the "Hidden" id at the start of the file, but I honestly dont know anything about proper formatting, and it didn't seem to cause problems.Other mods are "Auto Loot", "Combat Stance", "Complete Animations", and surely many more. As far as I can remember all those mods were installed correctly and worked well(well, conflicts aside, but fixing that is not W3MM's job). A note about W3MM: it only seems to copy the data from user.settings.part.txt and input.settings.part.txt files when you first install the mod, disabling and re-enabling the same mod doesn't have the same effect, you have to uninstall and reinstall the mod first(it looks like it's because it adds the lines from those files to its installed.xml file as a way to remember that the setup for the mod was already done, but I'm not sure). It also doesn't remove the corresponding lines from user.settings and input.settings when you disable a mod, only from input.xml in the game's folder. Hope this helps. Berzus
Yes, it does. Thank you! It is being worked on as we speak. That's great news! I'm happy that I could be of assistance. Thank you for your hard work, Vortex is becoming my favorite tool for modding.
