After reading all that, all I can say is, you need to get out more. Seriously.

My social life is excellent, thanks for your concern. :)

Perhaps it should have crossed your mind that if you're not downloading the trash that had me so irked, that perhaps I wasn't complaining about you or your tastes?

Since you obviously have some brooding hatred toward fallout 3 and any mods that don't cling to the canon like you do to your mothers bosoms, Why don't you go bavk to fallout 1 and 2 and play THOSE mods.

Damn, you got me dead to rights. I built a special bigass backpack gondola to carry my dearest mommy with me along on every foot patrol I ever walked, and all my squadmates just had to carry all my gear for me. Good thing she knew how to shoot because I was obviously too preoccupied with her mammary glands to use my weapon.

Wreckless, lemme put it this way:

Your points are well-met, but despite what your tone suggests I am fully aware of how much work goes into those mods. Please note that I suggested that Bethesda really owed some paychecks to several of the existing modders.

While I've messed around with FOMM and uploaded mods here I don't consider my fumblings with .esp's to even come close to the level of work demanded by the modeling aspect of new additions that folks like yourself and VashTS1985's have crafted.

My entire point in that post, which seems to have been misplaced amidst my 75wpm typehammered rant, is that people lose so much of what a game has to offer if they just transplant into it all the same stuff they enjoyed in other games.

I'm utterly certain that there is virtually zero Fallouty-immersiveness is added by putting in a COD4-perfect G36.

Granted, there's a hell of a lot of problems with Fallout 3 in regards to Fallouty-immersiveness that go far beyond the weapons selection - but it'd be nice to see more people like funkysandwich and speedyB64 who appreciate a game for what it *ought* to be and desire mods to that effect, and thus have the best modding talent *MAKING* Mods to that effect, instead of turning an excellent and unique game into another bloody-mess street doc hackjob with random bits and internal organs from other games stitched onto it.

Well, skipping past all else... speaking as a Fallout ex-fanboy myself, I don't quite get this fuss about what the game "should" be. Fallout is a retro-style near-future post-apocalyptic world. That's it. Just about the only real lore it has is that there was a nuclear war, and there are vaults, ghouls and super-mutants. Beyond that, there's nothing prescribed about what it or its weapons should be.

We're not talking about Lord Of The Rings here. Fallout is a _theme_, not a big tome collection saying exactly when was which sword broken, and on which mountain.

I'm not even getting into Fallout Tactics, which is still argued whether it should be canon or not. In Fallout 2 you had modern weapons like the G11 (an 80's-90's prototype), the H&K CAWS (an 80's prototype), Pancor Jackhammer (an 1987 prototype), Desert Eagle .44 (manufactured in the USA only after 1996), FN P90 (an 1990's weapon, though the game got the vendor and calibre wrong.) Plus other such real weapons as the 9mm Mauser or the Tommy Gun or the Grease Gun. And some non-american ones too like the FN FAL.

That's the _real_ Fallout lore. Interplay itself went and crammed all modern weapons they could think about into it, pretty much anything they thought as ZOMG TACTICOOL in other movies and games.

I don't know what's your obsession with going strictly fictive weapons -- and you're even entitled to it as a personal opinion -- but please stop posing as the keeper of the one true Fallout lore and trying to impose it on others. The real Fallout lore, as made by Interplay, is quite friendly to any kind of RL weapon up to the present day and beyond.

Your fantasies are just that: _yours_. If you want them done, ask nicely in the requests forum. Don't come acting as if you have a right to demand from a position of authority what other people should be doing.

It's also quite friendly to the "crap" you complain about other people making:

- recolouring weapons and armours black? Check. Check out the official wallpaper for FO2 with the enclave power armour. The leather armour was also black, btw.

- sex-related stuff? Well, while FO2 didn't do visual porn itself, in-character you could star in porn movies, be a fluffer, sleep with a farmer's daughter, hire your wife as a fluffer, pimp out your wife, go to a brothel or two, etc. Let's just say it's hardly the chaste and chivalrous setting where I'd see a point in moaning about breast sizes and jiggling.

Heck it was the game where it goes as low-brow humour as to literally blow sh*t up :P

My view is simple if it can blow up, shoot, stab or in anyway inflict an ouch or two it is fair to bring it into a 'game' that has weapons associated with it. Thing about no swords always bugs me cause I have about 2 dozen mounted around my house (most of them with a tab bit of a sharp edge or point) with a couple nearing 200 yrs old and still in working order. Also guess most museums and such didn't have them by 2077 anymore.

I guess is the difference btwn those that still luv toys and those that might have outgrown them. Me = more toys the better.

I think that in fallout the addition of real world weapons is fine. The nuclear war happened 69 years from now, we don't know everything that happened in the world before that so any weapon could have been made. The mods a person downloads is all personal preference. If there are mods that I don't like I just move on and ignore them. I prefer mods that fit the lore but I don't mind if people make non lore mods. Things transplanted from one game to another is fine, I probably won't download them. If a mod borrows things from another game but manages to fit it into the lore I would download it. Anyway the more guns the better!

the H&K CAWS
holy hell how did i forget about that one....o wait its a bulpup right? damn

im not gonna argue if tacticool is fallout or not, but i wont do it. im not a big fan of a nice rifle overloaded with more electronics and toys that bullets......just seems usless to me. however im more than willing to put plain stuff like AR's and G36's (got a couple lined up actually lol), its just got nothing to do with canon, just pure taste

Well, skipping past all else...

I'm not complaining about stuff that was obviously in FO1 or FO2. I'm not complaining about black leather armor or any implementation of things such as the numerous scenes from FO2 that involve the chance to either be a tramp or a celebate monk. I'm sorry that what I'm driving at is so unclear to you and others.

So I guess bring on the huge eyed H-cup hentai girl models and lightsabers. vulk it.

Vash - I do like your taste in guns. Its a refreshing change from the typical COD & CS crowds. I also really respect your work in modeling and I hope you know that :)

Azrael - I'm glad you think of a common US service weapon so highly.

Personally, having used several and worked on dozens more, extended use and wear is not kind to them and they start having extreme functionality problems as the gas port in the barrel erodes to a wider opening, and the already elevated gas pressures from having shortened the barrel (and thus the gas tube) start unlocking the bolt before the casing has relaxed, which leads to the extractor claw on the bolt ripping a section of the casing rim clean off of the casing, which leaves a casing firmly wedged in the barrel and you're not going to pull out a cleaning rod and hope you can bang it down and out of the chamber in the middle of a firefight. You go for your sidearm or a drop gun and start praying.

Plus, once that starts happening it'll happen often. In the field you can pull off the handguards and carefully pinch the gas tube down a little bit with some needlenose pliers or wirestrippers, but thats a bandaid fix that only sometimes fully works to slow the gas system down enough to prevent the bolt from unlocking prematurely and you can NEVER fully trust that weapon until you get a new upper and barrel assembly on it. They're pretty good about keeping fresher uppers on most M4's these days but the problems still very much exist.

The funny irony is that the US military was convinced it was a brass/ammo problem for years, and kept putting messed up guns out there in service.

So, I will happily take a full length M16A2/A3/A4 any day of the week over an M4, no matter how new and shiny it is. It can still happen to full size M16's but its *MUCH* rarer and takes a hell of a lot more wear in the barrel of the weapon for it to start happening.

So yeah. Weee M4's!
