Fallout vs Oblivion

I looked but didn't find this topic posted so why not start it? My question to you is do you prefere oblivion or fallout and why?

Here's my take on the two.

Landmass to discover: Oblivion definitely feels bigger since you cant see the imperial city from the opposite side of the map, where-as tenpenny tower / washington dc is visible (as long as you stand on high ground of course)

Graphics:fallout

fps:oblivion

ok skip the obvious,..

heres a tricky one,

LEVELING UP:

(based on my opinion)

Oblivion

pro's:

*regardless of what you do you are constantly building up yours stats, walk somewhere and find nothing? its ok your speed is leveling up.

*you can level up to 100 and theres tough npcs to encourage it

cons: limited on training , 5 times per level(no i havent looked up a mod to fix this, im sure theres one there.)

leveling up for just doing alchemy, or other non combat skills.

Fallout 3

pro's: the perks, fast leveling, limited level cap to keep you realistically powerful for your physical size

con's: level 20? level 30 would be good.

*i have been searching for caseys garage and cannot find it, (i did eventually) got to go to work, so after 20 minutes did i level up on speed? no!

Gore:

thanks to the community for influencing the new gore system of fallout by previously creating deadly reflex

side note: since fallout 3 is new, it sucks compared to oblivion if your one of those gamers who mod the crap out of games, so for now i must wait for raiders to have vehicles, more creatures to be created, sorry but the deathclaw , yao gui and benemoth arent enough for variety. how about a talking giant cockroach for a companion? i mean everyone would love to have a talking cockroach companian mod with nude features, and errotic ware. equiped with a gatling gun , and tendency to drop the gun on the ground during combat when it smells food, rushing for it.

I'm going to go with Fallout, and this is from someone who hates first person shooters.

I loved Oblivion and probably sunk hundreds of hours into the game, but the production in Fallout is improved over Oblivion in just about every way. Despite the rather monochromatic palette of the wasteland, everything in Fallout looks better than in Oblivion and the VATS is awesome. Everything about Fallout feels more polished and greater care was taken to make the actions you do most repetitively very entertaining. Fallout has heart, grit and humor that the rather G rated Oblivion can't touch.

Which isn't to say that the game is perfect of course. I've already downloaded quite a few mods for Fallout and look forward to seeing more outfits, creatures and other creative mods.

oblivion "WAS" a good game i played the hell out of it, meaning i got bored with it. then came back to it 10 months later and did it almost all over again. but the first strong character i built i dreamed about a game that would implicate automatic weapons into the scenario. though i will say. when i was playing fallout 3 and got to rivet city i was expecting this to be one of the many city's i would eventually see.

i not going to talk bad about either one. they are both cool, i have a feeling bethesda will do one of their exansion tricks and make their newest release larger.

EDIT i agree with caliban this game company is only improving as time moves forward so you can do as you like and dwell on an older game or move on with the pack.

except the First Person Shooter part, i was raised on them since doom

a little off subject but is there any good mods for fallout yet? ive searched but I'm not intrested in changes with glitches, such as the mod to lvl up to 30 or 40, with the exception that you must have good Karma or the game crashes. And PLEASE someone figure out how to recuit any companion /ring of console for fallout (vista user)

I don't think they should be compared ... I'm pretty sure the ppl I'v been around with on forums at Beth will gladly keep on playing Oblivion as their heart disires :)

I just like Fallout more because its the post apocalyptic sci-fi I'v been waiting for for decades (yeah you hear me , I'v always wanted a fallout that wasn't turn based, and where we players could mod the hell out of it)

I'v pretty much had it with Fantasy to the point of , well, Hate.

For anyone who hasnt bought fallout 3 and is debating it I say get it, do the main quest but dont finish it, wait for the mod utilities to be released and download my errotic eyecandy giant talking radroach companian.

(speech writing on forums 27%) In fallout the vatz system is great , everyone would love to be mad max, and enough with fantasy right? O.k. heres the hacking and smashing that few people do to fallouts great name...

I shot your head but you dont die? (when will head shots be considered an instant death?)

I shot your stomach with a 10mm pistol , you explode in peices?

I blow off your left leg, your dead, i shoot the crap out of the rigtleg and it never comes off(after death) (does this only happen on my game?)
