So my character is level 22 and I decided to try out the online multiplayer 'Matchmaking' but I don't totally get it.

I am fairly new to multiplayer and even MMOs so don't be surprised at my ignorance, we all have to start somewhere. Anyway I join one of the players in the list where I am joined with 2 other guys at similar levels making 4, where we seem to be randomly plonked into an older level (for me anyway don't know about them) just powering through.

What am I getting out of this? Can I get others to join my game? Are these random battles? Is there an achievable goal for multiplayer - in the game I joined we seemed to go round in a circle but I let them choose the destinations at the level end.

I'm asking here because i'm having trouble finding useful info elsewhere :psyduck:

Yes there is badass ranks for playing online with with other people, plus you get a higher chance for rare loot, like gold weapons.

The badass ranks are completely open between character so the more badass rank you get, the more powerful you get through out the game.

you joined someones game, there for you joined of whatever quest he was on.

if you want other to join your game you have to change your settings to joinable. Esc < online settings? i think

and with every player that joins loot drops have a higher chance of dropping and enemy health and damage goes up.

just be aware, that loot is shared. people can come into your game and just pick up all the loot. sometimes you get lucky and they wont do that until youve had the chance to look, and youll see them back away if they dont want it, but for every good player like that you find, there are several more who just pick up all the loot they find White through Purple and beyond. i find it happening a little less now (Ps3) probably because most people have decent enough loot, but yea.

also be careful, they can complete quests for you. so for example, if a certain quest lets you choose between a shotgun and a sniper, and they choose sniper as the reward, then you get the sniper, even if you had wanted the shotgun. so just be careful. for the most part thats not a big deal as most quest items arent anything good (hence other people complete the quests without thinking twice) but something to be aware of. it does happen.

I have two mules packed with gold weapons, even from the new annex dome which for the the first round got a gold rocket launcher http://forums.nexusmods.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/teehee.gif

for every 40 slots you have per character, two are full already, all unique gold weapons http://forums.nexusmods.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/teehee.gif i bet there are at least 4000 uniques http://forums.nexusmods.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/teehee.gif

A managed to get most of them from trading in sanctuary http://forums.nexusmods.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/teehee.gif

Only two seraph items at the moment, one a shield and a mod.

Er yeah...I was kinda picking up all the eridium drops because I thought it was free-for-all at first  although it did end up just me and the other guy and let him have the rest as my gear was better anyway. Well lesson learned!

no no. money and eridium and ammo is shared (thank god) if you pick it up, everyone gets it. its just weapons and such that arent shared.

so when you see money, ammo and eridium, go ahead and pick it up

Another thing I did not know^, went round another game leaving ammo for others to pick up I must have looked like a right idiot

They really should have made more effort with the booklet and explained stuff like this instead of being as minimalistic as possible. :armscrossed:

OK wow this is totally messed up! (actual spoiler alerts coming)

Last time I joined a matchmaking game I got involved in a mission that was further into the game than I got and quite frankly it was a massive spoiler for me...

It was the mission where a supposed bad guy 'boss' turned out to be Brick from BL1 who said he would meet up with you at Sanctuary, at the end of the mission

Anyway after seeing this I thought right well might as well carry on the rest of the game on my own then do multiplayer in another playthrough BUUUUT...

Brick was at my home and loads of missions were available I didn't have before, I seem to have adopted his save game and mine has been overwritten but I still have my own weapons and skin.

This is a huge WTF moment, has anyone else has this and can I fix it somehow?
