Wittz8
Do you like Star Wars? Are you fed up with all the stupid games that come out about it? This thread is about recruiting non-proffesional designers, mainly teenagers ho have nothing better to do, such as myself, to make something that could just be fun to make. Its main engine will the the Skyrim Creation Kit. Anyone with the ambition of making Star Wars races or objects can help and can email me at [email protected] to get more information or a job to do. We are starting from scratch, so that means no editing existing files. All the races and items will be done from SCRATCH. Also note that this is not Bethesda or any other professional gaming company. There will almost definitely be no profit to anyone and be free to anyone who wants to play it for no cost, so this is not a job opportunity. I'm telling you this in advance. This is just for people who would like to see or contribute to a cool Star Wars game.
Rabbit1251
The first thing that you need to do is get permission from Lucas Arts Entertainment to proceed with such a project. Without that as soon as Lucas hears of a high profile project such as this you will be served a Cease and Desist order and all of the work that you've put into the project will have to be abandoned. This is what recently happened to the Middle Earth Role-Playing Project (MERP) when they were shut down by Warner Brothers. Rabbit
SkoomaBoy
Rabbit is right although that fairly shows the stupidity of such enterprises considering the fact mods like this are fairly promoting their products. Although I don't think LucasArts does have such a behaviour (I've seen Star Wars Mods on Mount & Blade) so you can always try. I'm a 3D Modeler myself, tho i'm specialized on Medieval Architecture I can build some assets if you need them. One advice that can fairly help you in that domain, always keep it simple considering the amount of assets your mod is requiring to be viable (new gear, weapons, assets, FX), the perfect example for making your mod a total success on a modding platform such as Bethesda's Games is Moonpath to Elswyr. This mod is the absolute perfection of a mod bringing new environments and game experience, assets, quests while keeping its ambition very reasonable, Bethesda itself didn't bring a DLC that's comparable to the quality of Moonpath to Elswyr. In simple words, i'd suggest you start messing with the Creation Kit, trying to master some of the tools to create new cells and worlds etc. I really like the idea itself though, even if recreating an open world based on Star Wars is unreasonable for a group of modders, though keeping the environments as big as in the Knights of the Old Republic is fairly possible in therms of realisation. See ya! Edited January 1, 2013 by SkoomaBoy

omnimuffin
Awhile ago, I had actually done a whole lot of planning for this sort of thing on the Fallout New Vegas engine. I wanted to make it a spiritual sequel to KOTOR and KOTOR 2. The biggest problem I ran into was that I wanted to move the camera around during conversations, like cutscenes in ME, Dragon Age, et-cetera, but I couldn't figure out how. It was awhile ago, but I still have some of the concept art hidden away. I had a vague story outline too. It took places a few hundred years after the original KOTOR, and it dealt with a sith cult trying to rebuild a superweapon that could consume all life on a planet's surface, and then use that force energy to empower a force-user to absurd levels, Darth Nihilus-style. I'm no good at models and textures, or using the creation kit, but I'm a fairly decent artist, most of the time, and I'd be happy to help write and such.
