TUTORIAL: REMOVING UNWANTED MAGIC EFFECTS FROM THE PLAYER

This topic is a godsend. thanks so much. I found myself referring to this topic several times today.

This is for if the effect is specifically from a mod

If you are unsure what the 'in-game' name for the magic reference is

  1. Open the mod in Construction Kit, find the unique magic reference / effect shader
  2. Double click, note the name used. the name is different from the editor ID!
  3. Go in game, console (~), use command 'help name 4' to see the list of magic ref / effect shader ID(s) per the name you found. This will include the first two characters which account for your load order
  4. Use 'player.sme ID' (remove magic ref) or 'player.sms ID' (remove effect shader) as necessary.

Really wish there was a function 'getactiveeffectshaders' or 'getactivemagiceffects'

Similar problem. I am plagued by a Spriggan leaves effect, and I've tried everything (even CureAll and add/remove spells 9AA46 and 9AA38).

Effect will not disappear. I am on a fairly new character (only level 6) so I could restart, but I'd rather not have to.

In case it helps, I am using the following mods/DLCs (in shown load order):

- Dawnguard

- HearthFires

- Dragonborn

- Campfire

- HighResTexturePack(s)

- SkyTEST-RealisticAnimals&Predators

- SkyUI

- RealisticLightingOverhaul (and submods)

- Sacrosanct - Vampires of Skyrim

- Hunterborn

- Frostfall

- Wet and Cold

- Wet and Cold Ashes

- Footprints

- Sleeping Inkeepers

- Convenient Horses

- dD - Enhanced Blood Main (and submods/compats)

- Immersive Detection of NPCs

- RSPatch

- AskTheWay

- CobbEncumbrance

- Duke Patrick's Race Edits

- CreatureSizeVariants

- Dialogue Tweaks

- Hunterborn-SkyTEST patch

- Master of Disguise - Legendary

- No Combat Boundaries - Legendary

- Primal Fear - Dynamic

- SimplyKnock

- SleepTight

- TrueStorms

- TrueStorms-RLO

- CShacks

- SneakTools (and submods)

- INeed

- Equipping Overhaul

- INeed Dangerous Diseases

- Vigor - Combat and Injuries

- vwr Wet Eyes

- Immersive Citizens - AI Overhaul

- Realistic Water Two (and compats)

- Loadout

- Undeath

- Leave Combat

- Alternate State

- Open Cities

- Immersive Roads

- Tamriel Reloaded (all mods)

- RealShelter

- vImmersiveBeds

- Duke Patrick's

Edit: Fixed it. If you've got the same or similar problem, try downloading 'Skyrim Director's Tools', assign the 'manual' tool to a SkyUI favourites group, save and reload, then press the corresponding key. From there, go to VFX and clear VFX. You can then save and uninstall SDT if you wish.

To remove "Dragonnbsp;PriestEffect" (Purple smoke and glow eyes on feet)
1. Download my edited script.
2. Put "DragonPriestActorScript.pex" into "/Skyrim/Data/Scripts" overwrite the file if you need
3. Launch Skyrim and load your save file.
4. Press "`" Key to open the console.
5. Type "player.addspell 9BCCA" and press the enter / return key.
6. Press "`" key to close the console and press again to open it up.
7. Type "player.removespell 9BCCA" and press the enter / return key.
8. Close the console
9. Done!
About the script, I just add some lines which remove effects when the script end. so It will notaffectto the game. But If you want keep the script as clean, backup the original and revert it again.
-- Scripts what I add --
;DragonPriestActorScript
;enpinion edit
EVENT OnEffectFinish(Actor Target, Actor Caster)
selfRef.unequipitem(DragonPriestArmor01)
DragonPriestEyeGlowFX.Stop(selfRef)
DragonPriestParticlesFX.Stop(selfRef)
ENDEVENT
edit : Images.

This is very well done, thank you. On a related issue, when I give an enchanted outfit or weapon to a follower, there is an annoying visual that occurs whenever they are near and I have something enchanted on as well. It is a light blue spiral between us. Is there a way to avoid this other than not giving followers anything that is enchanted ?
