Gunslinger808
Look, I’m new at this, Skyrim SE is my first foray into the PC gaming community, and really I’m learning, these are just some of my hard lessons learned. Hell, I’m 62 and downloaded Skyrim SE last month, so take my warnings for the Septim they’re worth. 1 One mod at a time, and play it for a real world day or so before adding another.Everyone wants the latest sloots, and brightest colors, but take time to see if the mod you just downloaded is really compatible.Giving it a day will show up any errors or issues you might miss in a quick play through. If you download 4 or 5 at the same time, you’ll have difficulty figuring out which one is causing problems. 2 Read the post about a mod before downloading, lots of info can be gained as to whether it works or not by seeing what others post. This has really helped me weed out mods that I thought were great at first glance, then came to realize that they were going to be a real issue, whether from lack of updates to game crashers. 3 Do you really need 100+ mods to make your game any better?I see people posting about having issues here, and yet they can’t figure out that with so many mods there will be conflict.Choose well and be picky, I’d rather have 20 mods that work well than 75 that lead to CTD, lock up, or conflict to the point the game is no fun. 4 Load order, FNIS, and learning how to download.Just because Vortex makes it easy, doesn’t end the process, quite the opposite, LOOT is great but not perfect, time to watch videos and learn the deeper darker secrets for a great experience. Many videos out there from the likes of Gopher (thanks to those that pointed me to his videos). 5 Hard save before running a mod the first time, if it all goes pear shaped you can uninstall and go back to before it went bad. I’ve made every mistake listed above and learned the hard way, but I’m a fast learner with very little computer experience.Ive still managed to make a nice, quick, game tailored to my taste (as long as my wife never sees it), the big thing is don’t be in too much of a hurry because something new and flashy or with bigger boobs caught your interest. Mods, if I’m out of place with this post, my apologies, but I see so many here making the same mistakes I have, hoping to save someone the grief of crashing and burning, and having to start all over. saurusmaximus
You make several good points, too bad it will largely fall on deaf ears, lol. I've been around here for 7 years, and for a long time I would spend time on the forums (mainly with LE Skyrim) trying to help others get their games working. I finally tapered off from that mainly because I got tired of answering the same, "Why is my game crashing!?" posts, and discovering the person didn't even so much as read the mod description.
