zyllos
Hmm, I just noticed, under the "Main Files" section, there is an "Optional" section that contains newer versions of this mod. Let me try those...
zyllos
Alright, I tried the 2.12 Beta 5 version, and before the installation finishes, I get a "XComEUModHelper has stopped working" error but it looks like the installation goes ahead and finishes. When running Steam, the game displays an error "XCom Enemy Unknown has stopped working".
johnnylump
It's not a common install problem that I can tell. Beta 5 installs via a different method than the prior ones. When you designated the directory for the mod, did it tell you the directory already existed? (If not, you picked the wrong directory) Otherwise you might try running the installer in admin mode. EDIT: Also, you need to update your .Net framework to the latest. Edited November 3, 2013 by johnnylump
zyllos
After doing some investigation, I noticed something. Some of my Steam games is installed at: D:\Games\Steam Library\SteamApps\common But others are installed at: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common C drive is a SSD and the D is a HDD. XCom is installed in the D drive. Well, I checked the C drive directory and noticed I have files installed there, but yet I pointed the Long War installation to the D directory. zyllos
Ok, after closer inspection, the files in my C drive mostly have "xxx-original" at the end of them, so I guess the installer just defaults the "old" files to the C directory. Yes, it asks if you want to "over write the directory" and my .NET is up to date. I will try "Admin" mode.
zyllos
Does not seem to change the outcome when running in "Admin" mode. Checking to make sure I have the most up-to-date of .Net.
johnnylump
I would guess it's your Steam structure. The installer reads some bits from the registry about where Steam games are; if you keep them in two different places, it may be pointing to the wrong one. But that's just a guess. For 2.12b5 You'll prolly have to install it manually by putting each game file in the right place (where the vanilla version is) and then running the modhelper program (with all its support programs in the same folder) from a new common\XCom-Enemy-Unknown\Long War Files subdirectory. I can put up the mod files (outside an installer exe) after a while.

Could I not just install the mod into a random directory, then move them or does the installer need some files to exist before installing them?
