PoeticAnt44
So, my CK was completely ruined and no idea why. I did a full restore on my computer and now I have everything set up, but when I went to my follower I was creating, all my .dds files were converted to .nif. I don't understand. Even my mod downloads, for example, an eye mod that has eyebrown_n.dds is now a .nif and I have no idea how to change it back. I removed my NifSkope (just in case) and reinstalled the eye mod to get the proper .dds file, but they are still listed as .nif. Is there a way to fix this? Thanks for any help. I do hope this is an easy solution.
xrayy
probably you tried to open this dds file accidentally with nifcope . if you push the wrong button in while opening a file windows sets nifscope.exe as default program to open this dds file even if this is not intended. you can change that by chosing to open this file manually with a dds compatible programm and to confirm it as the default program to open it. PoeticAnt44
I didn't touch anything. I just opened a folder to find all the .dds read as .nif. Can I have the .dds read my Photoshop? I realized when I was resetting up my computer and installing everything, I hadn't yet reinstalled my PS
thumbincubation
Right-click on one, select "open with" and find whichever program you usually use to manipulate textures (GIMP, Photoshop, whatever). Click the "always use" option and let that program open it. You should then see all your icons revert back to the what they were before.
IsharaMeradin
Also, set Windows to show file extensions. That way you will know if the file actually changed type or if the default program to open that file type was changed. Not sure of your particular OS so cannot give specific instructions to do that.
