How's Dawnguard Now?

I'm just wondering if getting Dawnguard now is worth it now that it's been out long enough for modders to get their hands on it.

I've got a fairly heavily modded game that's stable and would like to hear about how troublesome or easy it is to make the transition to a stable Dawnguard edition.

Depends...is it still for 50% sale?

If you ask me (!) it's not worth the story, i'm not interested in the Vampire Lord...never used horse combat BUT i was interested in the Crossbow and needed its mechanics for modding :D

So IF you are interested in firearms (there are plenty of mods out there atm) it would be worth the buy...or crossbows. Or if your are at least a little interested in the other features of the DLC and it's still for sale i would buy it as well.

Only a little interest in the features and only available at full price? I would'nt buy it or wait until they reduce the price...i guess it will be on sale quite often in the future :D

Btw, never had a crash since i installed DG at release.

Hey Ghosu,

Thanks for responding :D

Alright that's kinda what I needed to know. Dawnguard is 20 dollars which in my mind means it should be more than 5 hours of playable content. Like at least 15 hours of content but that doesn't sound to be the case. I missed the boat on the winter sale, so I guess I'll wait for the next one.

I'm pretty sure it will be available for 10 dollar (or even less) pretty soon, especially when they release the next DLC on PC.

I'm not sure 'bout the duration of the real content...i just started the DG quest, released this vampire chick and became a vampire lord ... took me maybe 1h+ ... played around with the lord, didn't like it, back to normal game - i'm sure there is much more but lost my interest since i'm more a modder than a gamer, i'm only looking at new game mechanics. At least i heard it is 10-20h so it may be of interest, but wait for feedback of real players :D

I've played it through with both sides. (minus some side quests. Didn't know about couple.)

And I'd say it's worth it.

(Or at least worth the sale price which is around 10 dollars/euros)

And to be honest, I think it'd be even worth to get it just to get access to updated mods.

Many of those require Dawnguard nowadays.

And just as Ghosu said, it's good to get it just for some new things.

Crossbows, Werewolf perk tree, new areas and so on.

It's worth it.

I got DG and Hearthfire on sale a couple months back. Dawnguard was a lot of fun and a welcome addition since the original quests were starting to get a bit stale. I did run into a few ctds but updating and cleaning my mod list seemed to fix that.

Serana was a bit glitchy sometimes, but that might be my fault for playing with an existing savegame. Starting a new game might clear that up, we shall see. All in all, no regrets.

I've got both Dawnguard and Hearthfire, just waiting for Dragonborn now. Dawnguard was interesting and their certainly are a lot of great mods that use Dawnguard features that make it worth the purchase!

You pay $10 - $20 to go see a movie, depending on whether you get snacks. Dawnguard took me over 10 hours to play through I believe, and I still didn't explore much of

Soul Cairn

. I didn't play the Dawnguard faction, so I don't know what that quest line is like. I love the crossbow, but vampire lord is overpowered if you get it at early levels. It's a must have for people who play as vampires (although I usually get sick of never seeing the sun in the world, so I usually go get cured after 20 or so levels.

I think it's worth it, although

Serana's story and relationship with parents sounds more like something you'd expect from trailer trash than royalty.

I think they failed to make the story as good as it could have been.
