I had this happen in the past before but I'd just restart my computer and it would work fine but it seems no matter what I do or what guide I follow the script extender executable won't launch, like I see a small black window for a few seconds and then just nothing, try launching the default skyrim SE and Steam is telling me the game is already running, i can't close it from steam. it has been 3 days and I need my skyrim fix, I'm considering just playing vanilla at this point but i am in desperate need of some help with this

idk.

Is Steam running? If not, it should be.

Have you added any mods recently? If so, try disabling or uninstalling them.

Have you added any animations recently? If so, does the number even come close to exceeding game limits? If so, uninstall some.

Have you been running with a "perfectly fine LE mod that seems to work" ? If so... (need I say?)

How many mods do you have installed?

I don't know how to do this in MO2, NMM, but if using Vortex:

  1. Open the plugins tab and check the number of "active" modules.
  2. The value is displayed in simple white text on the right side of the orange menu bar... ex: Active: 158 Light: 56)
  3. If the number of active modules exceeds the max (afaik: 254), disable a few mods until the value is less than 255, or if possible, make some *light. (See: https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/7715188-could-be-light/ )
