I am changing SO. Will my Skyrim work again?

Hello guys,

I am seriously asking for help. I have gained something like 5 months of gameplay in Skyrim because I really like it and I want to discover all its missions and all. Then this September, my f**king Vista SO crashed and so it doesn't start anymore. I moved to Windows 7 using a partition, and so I kept all the save files.

Can someone help me? My will is to install Skyrim on Windows 7 (it's a 64 bit) and copy and paste the save files to reopen my efforts, as I did with other games in the past. But since I moved from Vista 32bit to Windows 7 at 64bits, I don't know if this is going to work. :wallbash:

What if I install Skyrim at 32bit on Windows 7 64bits and move my save files in? Will this work the same?

Or, what if I install Skyrim 64bits on Windows 7 and move the save files in, made with my old Vista 32bit?

Which option should I use? Since it's a big game in GB, I cannot try over and over the right solution..

thanks in advance!

Vista OS is a horrible operating system at best.

Make a back up of your DATA folder under...

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\skyrim

and also your game save folder under .....

C:\Users\username\Documents\My Games\Skyrim

Then reinstall the game. Copy your original data and saves folders to the working locations and your game shoud be ok.

( I would back up the original folders you are about to overwrite so you have a clean vanilla back up).

As a side note, if your gams is working fine I would remove bash'd resources before making my original backups and just keep the original files on your system. If you have done ini tweaks, save those as well. Custome keys mapping might also be lost.

It seems complicated, but really about 6 simple steps. Good luck and have fun with your new load. :)
