Thor. DSI seems to be a more for progress. noting they are billionaires. Space resources. Edited January 26, 2013 by Thor.
Ironman5000
i have a feeling its not about progress but more about greed.http://i.qkme.me/3r2h7z.jpg...but money does Point being money is scarce (british government are forcing disabled people to suicide to claw back benefit money for one example, don't know how they are attempting it in other countries) and any scheme to line their pockets will go ahead no matter what happens. If this means blind faith in the space program because there are little resources left on earth then f*** it, why not! I can't say i'm surprised James Cameron wants a hand in this though because he is a lunatic who wants to descend to the lowest depths of the ocean to film his next project, which screams eccentric! I'm all for the concept and I would like to see this a success but there could be so many missions that return with no results, or maybe at best the resources gained didn't make the investment worthwhile. That coupled with other points raised it doesn't seem like a sound investment right now, while the government would rather see the less fortunate to drop dead while they line their pockets and demand salary raises. (again this is happening here despite the media cover-up, so you can see my scepticism) Edited January 26, 2013 by Ironman5000
Vagrant0
because there are little resources left on earth then f*** it, why not!Actually, that would be incorrect. A better statement would be "because there are little resources left on Earth that can be easily obtained with current technology, political climate, or little ecological impact." Even more than construction, mining in America comes with a rather ridiculous amount of red tape, expense for lawyers, constant problems from activist groups, even on privately owned land where mining operations have been present for the last 50-80 years. Deep ocean mining can yield the same sorts of resources, without the complications of sending craft into space, but carries with it many of the same problems of surface mining, especially in regard to activists and ecological groups(despite being championed by Robert Ballard as a solution to our resource problem). Space really is the final frontier... where we can take what we need without having someone whine at us about destruction of environment, pollution, excess noise, or getting their cut. Thor.
More information on DSI quality is better then the rest of the vids I've seen. http://www.space.com...oids-video.html and more http://www.space.com...lar-flight.html Lol i don't know why but have the feeling they are not as serious as they claim, the lack of excitement other then scripted tech updates and interviews. i don't see it. DSi i think has the upper hand in this one. Especially when they know what they are doing, planetary resources in the other hand, they may be funding the project, but actors turned space engineers i don't. see that, that's just me of course http://forums.nexusmods.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/teehee.gif Of course you never know what the outcome may be.
