Console Command newbie

So I've never used console commands in a game and I never intended to, but I love having Charon around and he has the tendency to die when pitted against tougher opponents. So I wanted to set him to "essential".

after research I read that I should click on him once the console is open and type: setessential ####### 1

but nothing seems to work. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

If You want an in depth list of console commands search Gamebryo console commands. You have to know the characters base or reference id depending on what You are trying to accomplish. If I want to move to a character then I want the base id. For example - player.moveto 0001fb3a will teleport me to Deputy Weld. 0001fb3a is his reference id. But if I want Dept Weld to come to me I would type player.placeatme 0001fb39. 0001fb39 is Weld's base id. You could simply resurrect Charon by using console while standing next to his corpse by typing 'resurrect' and then click his corpse and hit enter. Voila - Alive Again. But You have to be cautious because You don't want two Deputy Welds running around. Don't use player.place at me if our good Deputy is still alive or You could end up with two of them and This is NOT GOOD. Especially if it is a quest related character. As Elricshan suggested You could use GECK and make Charon the Invincible God of War. Hope it Helps!!! ps - Over using the resurrect command will eventually mess up Your game so don't do it unless You Absolutely Have To. I don't have enough knowledge to explain why - but it does!!! Hi,

for Charon the command would be:

setessential 156f6 1

For more info on console commands have a look at the wiki

I myself am a newbie as far as console commands are concerned. I've had to have people walk me through what at first seems very confusing. Just trying to cover the basics!!! Also wanted to say - Much Thanks!!! Edited by Anoxeron
