Do you guys ever play Fallout like THIS?

Man, assuming Bethasda doesn't do the cease and desist, I will green mod the s*** out of this.

Anyone from that region with a good overview of what the climate of those parts of California? I would think Vault 13 would be verdant and green as Mt Whitney is in a national park. 15 I think is closer to death Valley.

I'm thinking one would need assets from both BA Wasteland AND Vurt's flora overhaul and mix and match depending on map location. What do you think?

Considering the destruction of the War, I think it is only an assumption that an area would automatically revert (more or less) to its pre-War climate.

Climate and weather patterns COULD change radically - they have been known to do so even without human interference. There are other things like changes in riverflows and alterations in the water table. Plus all those nuclear detonations could have caused major tectonic shifts and maybe even alterations in the Earth's rotation and/or axis.

Given all of this, Death Valley COULD end up becoming a rainforest (or vice versa). An extreme and probably unlikely case, I grant you, but there are always possibilities.

I think the notion of a tectonic shift is flm flam. The only, ONLY way I could see this in theory is San Andreas where the big onw is 200 years overdue, and even then, not so much.

In the original Fallout I had assumed, and I think rightly that beyond the Dead World thing, California was in a severe, years long, drought. That's by no means impossible. And even back then, I understood that global warming would dry out the Southwest.

The problem with Fallout 1 is that southern California is Med/Desert region (the Mohave goes more or less to San Diego's city limits) but the north like Shady Sands and Mariposa is very temperate, with Redwoods. Even in discussing natural climate, you'll need two different set of environmental assets, possibly up to four.

I'm also interested in seeing how on earth this workaround model for world map travel (something Fallout needs back DESPERATELY) includes a means of implementing random encounters.

After all, without them, trekking to Mariposa will be a breeze.

Yeah, but that's meta.

For a vanilla mod (and this is) they need to do realism as the base. Then later others can put death stars in place of the moon and pimp out their 'anthro' Friendship is Magic pony follower (shudder) to Rhombus and the High Command at Lost Hills for chump change (god bless you Shotgun Marriage in Fallout 2 precedent!)

As a side note: I love Friendship is Magic. I am a Pegasister/Brony/whatever. But if you do a FiM mod, you need to use the cyberdog animations for New Vegas as a base, rebuild it, then have a four legged Pinkie Pie throwing pies and cakes which explode into radioactive goodness like mini nukes from a Fat Man....

WHA?!!!!

You've not seen Life after People have you? Or for that matter Logan's Run? Or the Time Machine? Either version or the book?

I do understand it's a preference thing to actually run these mods, but saying the world needs to look burned out look post apocalyptic is facetious. It's groundless, and on its face completely without merit.

Just to give more perspective, let's look at what these can do for the Pitt

Wholesome Pennsylvania

This is a view from the ruined Highway east of the 10th Street Bridge. It actually reminds me of being on the bridges in Cincinnati

Although its less dramatic than the normal sky, I think this is more justified as its just one steel mill that is active, albeit a massive one,

A picture of the Steelyard. It feels so different than vanilla

The Cathedral of Learning gets some (SOME) of its dignity back.

A northern-looking view of the 10th street bridge at sunset.

If you guys want to see more greenworld DLC stuff, I've taken some awesome pics.

Deserts are for the Mohave.
