Lifetime Donations

Perhaps this is an odd question, but as a lifetime member, I've found myself wondering if there is any way to donate money to the Nexus? Premium Subs obviously keep the money coming in, but since I've paid the one time fee and can't do that, I've on and off considered giving a bit here and there. Anyone know if there's a way to do that, and I'm just fantastically oblivious to it?

I have also wondered about this. At the moment I just pay the quarterly fee instead of paying the one off fee - operating on the assumption that this continued revenue will be more beneficial to the Nexus in the long run (as long as I keep the subscription up for more than 2 years). I would upgrade ( to avoid having to "worry" about expiring membership if nothing else) if some additional monthly donation became possible.

I can't believe another year has passed and we still haven't got an option to donate. As a Premium member I feel that with the tens of gigs of data I download each year I should be paying an annual fee.

Obviously I'm loving the one-time fee, but I am more interested in the Nexus Mods sites to survive into the future than in saving a few bucks. To me the obvious thing is to add a simple donation feature so us Premium members can throw a bit extra cash into the system.

Dark0ne: if you read this I will pay you $AUD100 to build a donation feature.

The problem with donations is that I'm not comfortable taking them. I do not want to get "something for nothing". I know it's not as black or white as that, but that's just how I feel.

We've got designs in place to allow you to donate Premium Membership to other users, like your favourite mod authors or people who have helped you out in some way. We'll be incentivising it as well by offering the donator 25% of the time that they've bought for the other user (you buy someone a year's Premium Membership, we'll give you 3 months free).

That way you can donate money to the site, support your favourite users of the site, and even help yourself out a little too.

Not an odd question at all. I'm Staff here, but I renewed my membership when it was time, same as any other member. Since I also upgraded to "Lifetime" when I did that, I'm now in the same boat. No mechanism to continue funding such a worthwhile project!

Thanks for your feedback! I have to disagree that it's "something for nothing" though. I download about 10GB/year from Nexus Mods, and to me the value I get from the site is significantly higher than buying movies online, yet far too cheap comparatively. I think I only paid £35 or something for my Premium membership about 5 years ago, making it about £7 year, and shrinking each year. I feel that I should be able to pay what I perceive the value to be, and it's higher than that. My biggest fear is that without the extra support from users like me who are willing and capable of increasing our financial support for the site, you will not be rewarded accordingly or will struggle to fund everything in the future.

I love that I don't have an annual fee, but I'd love the option to pay what I feel is right for how heavily I use the site. Let me put it like this: I want Nexus Mods to be thriving in 10 years time, by which point in time I will have been effectively paying ~ £2/year - not enough!

That's really good to know about the upcoming options - thanks!
